Chapter 14
I turned my head. It was Antonio.
He looked at me in disbelief. “Grace, it’s really you. I hardly recognized you. You’ve become stunning.”
Emma walked to him and held his hand.
“You don’t say. What she’s wearing costs a fortune. Of course, she looks stunning.
“Antonio, as a man, you may not know this. That Chanel–style outfit costs. your one–month salary. You have to work hard for two months to buy a pair of the shoes she’s wearing.”
Emma patted Antonio on his shoulder to comfort him.
“Antonio, you’ve been hard–working these years. You’re the best in our peers. Only old men can afford these things. Grace is willing to sleep with an old man for money. It’s not your fault.”
Looking at me, Antonio gave a bitter smile.
“Grace, sure enough, no matter what I do, it’s not enough for you.
“So, this is the life you want. You don’t wanna spend the rest of your life with a commoner like me.”
I looked at him calmly. I didn’t wanna explain.
In our three years of marital life, I never bought clothes worth more than 200 dollars. Didn’t he know how we had lived?
115440
Of course, he knew. It was just that a word from Emma could destroy whatever we had in the past three years.
Unwilling to say anything, I shook away Antonio’s hand, got up, and walked toward Dad.
Antonio caught up to me and stopped me. His eyes dripped with ridicule when he spoke.
“Old men are all married. Grace, have you stooped so low as to be the other woman??
“Despite everything, you were my wife. I can’t watch you do this. Come
with me.”
With that. Antonio dragged me toward the door. I was wearing high heels, and he was too strong. I couldn’t get free of him.
Luckily, Chad and the man who had paid my medical bills saw this and trotted over.
Chad was also a bodyguard. He earned two pays. As a martial artist, he grabbed Antonio immediately.
Antonio was a cycling and marathon enthusiast. Still, he was no match. for a trained bodyguard.
Antonio had to let go of me. Under inertia, I fell backward. Luckily, Milton, who had paid my medical bills, caught me.
At the sight of me in another man’s arms, Antonio thundered, “Grace, how shameless you are! You’re such an unfaithful, loose woman! I was wrong about you! I regret falling in love with you!
“Marrying you is the most humiliating thing I’ve ever done!”
I’d decided to move on and put Antonio behind me. But still, his words.
pierced through my heart like blades. It hurt.
Dad made arrangements for me in everything ever since my childhood.
Marrying Antonio was the only time I had defied Dad. To be with him, I had abandoned the money, the house, and the car Dad had provided for
- mc.
At first. I was only attracted to his looks. He was a gorgeous school hunk.
I decided to marry him when I knew more about him. During his four years in college, his parents gave him 8,000 dollars a month. He saved it all. He did two part–time jobs every day. When we started dating, he kept 1,000 dollars every month as his allowance and gave the rest of his money
to me.
I knew he had loved me deeply, and I had loved him..
That was why it was excruciating when I found out he loved someone else more.
Chad asked me if he should throw out Antonio and Emma. I thought about it and said, “No need.”
I guessed they had paid to get in. They were looking for a chance to do. business.
Since they were here, I wanted Antonio to know I didn’t have a sugar daddy. I was rich and powerful myself.
The MC stood on the stage and spoke loudly.
