Chapter 3
I felt sick as I watched Antonio and Linda rolling around together on the security feed, so turned it off.
I sent all the saved footage to the private investigator.
It turned out Antonio had been secretly transferring my assets for a while now under various pretexts. Maybe his plan to kill me wasn’t just an impulse.
As long as the investigator found the evidence, he would be proven guilty of intentional murder.
Seeing it was getting late, I got up and drove to Emily’s school to see how Nina had the nerve to wear the dress I’d prepared.
Thinking I’d wait for Linda and the others, I didn’t go straight to the school’s ballroom. If the fight ended too early, it wouldn’t be as fun.
When the principal saw me arrive, he immediately stood up to greet me, looking scared.
“Ms. Parrish, what brings you here? I mean, shouldn’t you be in the ballroom?”
I sat across from him at his desk, where I had a clear view of everything happening in the ballroom.
“It’s not my daughter’s birthday, so it wouldn’t be right for me to go, would it?”

He was shocked to hear this. “I thought it was Nina’s birthday. Isn’t she your daughter, Ms. Parrish?
“Mr. Kaufman brought that child to enroll, saying she was his daughter. She uses her grandmother’s surname, so that’s why…”
The principal stopped talking when he saw my expression change.
“Emily is my only daughter. Nina is just a disadvantaged student I’m sponsoring. So she’s been pretending to be my daughter and throwing big parties at school?”
The principal didn’t dare answer. After all, I was a major shareholder of the school, and he had mistaken a charity case for the real heiress.
If he offended me, next year’s school expansion plans would go up in smoke.
“Ms. Parrish, I’ll go explain everything to everyone right away!”
I held up my hand to stop him because I saw Emily appear in the hallway of the ballroom across the way.
She was carrying over a dozen cups of coffee and was blocked at the door by several girls.
“You’re so slow! Were you slacking off? Don’t you know our princess is waiting for her coffee?”
The girl speaking pinched Emily’s arm hard, but Emily just kept her head down timidly, not daring to fight back.
I didn’t know what had happened to turn such a lively, outgoing child at home into this.

A moment later, Nina came out in her gown. She took a sip of coffee from Emily’s tray, immediately frowned, and poured the rest over Emily’s head.
“It’s cold! I told you to be back in ten minutes. Are you stupid?”
Seeing coffee splash onto the hem of her dress, Nina angrily kicked Emily. “You mutt! No wonder your homewrecker mom couldn’t raise you right, you little tramp. You ruined the dress Daddy bought me. Can you even afford to replace it?”
Hearing those words, I was stunned. She actually called me a homewrecker?
Emily, terrified, immediately knelt and started wiping Nina’s dress with her uniform sleeve.
I stood up angrily, slamming my hands on the desk. “So my baby girl comes to your school every day not to study, but to be bullied?!”
I was about to rush over when I saw Antonio arrive with Linda.
Nina sweetly took Antonio’s arm. “Daddy, Mom, what took you so long?”
Antonio saw Emily kneeling on the ground and looked annoyed. “You idiot, you upset Nina again? Watch it, or I’ll throw you and your mom out!”
Linda went even further, slapping Emily across the face. “If it weren’t for wanting you to look after my daughter, a tramp’s kid like you wouldn’t even be in this school. If you piss Nina off again, you’re out! And I’ll stop paying for your mom’s medical bills too!”

Hearing Linda’say this, I finally understood why Emily was acting this way.

Since she was old enough to understand, I’d been busy with work and always got home late. She was mostly at home with Linda.
And since Linda wore the designer clothes I bought, after their brainwashing, Emily must have believed I was Antonio’s mistress, so I had to help manage the company while Linda just enjoyed life at home.
Plus, I’d been sick recently, so to cover my medical bills, she chose to suffer in silence.
Thinking back to how Emily had been tormented before she died in my past life, never fighting back, I felt like my heart was being squeezed in pain.
It turned out she had done it all for me.
