Chapter 42: Kidnapped
Tricia’s POV
As the night wore on, we found a perfect spot to watch the lantern release.
“Wow, this is breathtaking,” Ava whispered.
“I know, right?” Lyra said, her eyes sparkling. “The Lantern Festival is my favorite time of year
“Mine too,” I said, forcing a smile.
As we watched the lanterns, Lyra chatted excitedly.
“Isn’t this magical?” Lyra asked.
“It’s amazing.” Ava replied..
I nodded, lost in thought.
“Tricla, what’s wrong?” Lyra asked, noticing my distant expression,
“Nothing, just enjoying the view,” I replied quickly.
Lyra smiled, unaware of my inner turmoil.
“Let’s keep exploring! The night is still young”
As we strolled through the market, Ava pointed out a stall.
“Look! Handmade jewelry!” Ava exclaimed.
“Ooh, let’s see!” Lyra said
We browsed the jewelry, laughing and chatting.
But my mind wandered to my escape plan
How could I slip away without hurting Lyra and Awa? I don’t want to hurt them. The girls have tried a lor for me
The lantern release began, and we found a perfect spot.
“Wow.” I breathed.
“Isn’t it stunning?” Lyra asked.
Ava nodded, her eyes shining
As the night wore on, my heart ached.
This would be my last night with Lyra and Awa.
As the lanterns floated away, Lyra turned to us with a smile.
“Let’s make a wish!” Lyra exclaimed
Ava closed her eyes, her face scrunched in concentration.
“I wish for our pack’s prosperity, and for my crush to like me back Awa said. She mumbled in a low breath but we heard her.
I and Lyra exchanged glances and bursted into a fit of laughter.
“What is wrong?” She asked, laughing
“Who is your crush?” I asked, furrowing my brow
“Yeah, tell us. Who is the lucky guy that captured Ava’s little heart.” Lyra chimed in. She was grinning from ear to ear.
“It’s a secret. Will tell you guys later. Quickly make a wish for yourself.” She urged Lyra.
