Chapter 45: Are you all deaf?
Lucian’s POV
I was surprised when I could not find the troublesome maid in the palace.
I expected her to be among those that will bring food to the dinning hall this morning.
For some odd reason. I felt uneasy.
I went to the toy room to check if she was still there but to my greatest surprise. She was nowhere to be found.
A frustrated sigh escaped my lips. I don’t know why I am so bothered about her whereabouts. She is just an ordinary palace maid.
I don’t know when I started worrying about anybody.
My heart seems to be dead. The word happiness doesn’t seem to be in my life.
I can’t even remember the last time I smiled. But this girl.
She always seems to crack me up. Though she is very troublesome and annoying sometimes. But I still enjoy her company.
Her scent alone is enough to make me sleep, which is so unusual.
The night will soon fall and my easiness grows even more.
But Lyra was also nowhere to be found. She did not come for breakfast, lunch and dinner time will soon ease.
“Lucian, are you okay?” I heard Evan. His words pulled me out of my thoughts.
I raised my head and our gaze locked.
“What is the issue? Is something bothering your mind?” He asked. furrowing his brow.
He took his seat opposite me in the office.
“Nothing much” I replied with a bored expression on my face. I sat straight on the chair and aced my hands on the table.
“Have you seen Lyra and Tricia today?” I asked. I did not even realize I was holding my breath.
I just hope Evan reply would be something good
“Tricia? Who is she?” Evan was silent for a while, trying to remember who Tricia was.
And fortunately, he remembered on time “Oh you were talking about that beautiful Omega?”
I shot him a cold glare “So you find her beautiful?”
“Of course yes. Anyone could tell that she is beautiful and…” he kept shut immediately when he felt my cold glare on him… He let out an awkward laughter and scratched his head.
“I was only stating the fact though.” He said, shrugging his shoulders.
“So have you seen any of them today?” I asked. Trying my best to sound impatient.
Evan gave me a knowing look and smile “But you said you don’t care about the Omega. Why do I sense that you are lying?”
“Will you just shut up and reply to me?” I yelled. Banging the table hard.
There were no traces of a smile on my face any longer. This shows I am now in angry mode.
“I’m sorry your majesty.” He quickly apologized.
I saw Lyra and the girl entering the kitchen in the morning. That’s all. I was surprised when I did not see Lyra in the dining hall today. Hope nothing is wrong?
“I did not see the two girls today, which is so unusual” I said through my clenched teeth.
I wondered where the two girls could have been.. I am more than angry right now.
Let’s go check Lyra in her room first. Then we will know what is wrong.
I and Evan walked out of my office and went straight to Lyra’s room.
Each step you took made my heart beat rapidly.
I can’t calm it down no matter what.
“Knock knock?”
Evan knocked in the door slightly but we received no response.
My patient seems to be running out. “Enough of this bullshit” I mumbled under my breath and kicked the door open.
To NY’s greatest shock. No one was in the room. Just the lonely bed that was in the middle of. the room and other unnecessary things.
“They are not here.” Evan said and I nodded.
1 suck in a deep breath. Trying my best to calm myself.
“So what next?”
“Let’s go to the kitchen. They should be there.”
I and Evan went to the kitchen.
A salivating aroma welcomed us immediately as we stepped into the kitchen.
All heads turned to us and they widened their eyes in shock.
“Hello my Lord. Hello your majesty.” The maids greeted each other in unison.
I did not reply but Evan managed to reply with a nod..
My eyes scanned the entire room but the girls were nowhere to be found.
Miss Mary quickly walked over to us. She had a gentle smile on her face.
One would think she is a good person but I know she is not.
I can never be bewitched by her annoying smile.
“Hope nothing is wrong, your highness?” She asked.Ger voice was laced with confusion.
“So are you saying I am not allowed in my own kitchen?” I sneered coldly. She quickly lowered her gaze in an apologetic manner.
“I am sorry your majesty.”
“Have you seen Lyra and Tricia today?” I asked. Trying my best to control my anger.
I don’t know why I am this angry. It has been so long since I got angry like this.
The maids exchanged glances. None of them utter a single word.
“Are you all deaf?” I roared and they all trembled in fear. “I asked you a question and none of you were unable to give me a reply. Are you all tired of living already?”
I balled my hand into a fist. I closed my eyes trying my best to contain my anger.
“Yes we saw them today.” Miss Mary replied. It took everything in her not to stutter.
I saw a ray of hope. My gaze softened instantly.. I almost grabbed Miss Mary’s hand to show my gratitude.
Her words alone were able to calm me down a bit.
“So where are they?”
She was unable to utter a word. I guessed she was intimidated by my scary aura.
“Just say Whatever you want to say… I hate suspense the most in my life” I said. My voice was low but menacing.
“Lady Lyra went out with Tricia and Ava today. They all dressed up. I think they went to the market to enjoy the lantern festival.” One of the maids replied.
She kept her gaze lowered so I was unable to see her face clearly…
“Step forward.” Evan commanded as the girl quickly moved forward like a scared rabbit.
She still had her gaze lowered. She was even shivering as if she was splashed with cold water
“They went to the lantern festival?” I half yelled. Anger was written all over my face
All the maids almost ran away out of fright but none of them dared to move an inch.
“Are you also there when they left?” I directed my question to Miss Mary.
She has already broken into a cold sweat. She tried her best to mask her fear with a smile.
But I did not fail to notice that she was scared.
“I… I… I was… I did” She was unable to complete a proper sentence… “Argh.” I groan in frustration. I ran my hand through my hair angrily.
“I asked if you were here when they left for the festival?” I growled and they all trembled immediately.
They all went to their knees immediately. Some of them were even crying.
