Chapter 11
Karissa used her social media accounts as a platform to document her life, posting numerous photos and daily updates without missing any details.
There were sweet moments after she fell in love with him, and there were warm moments after they entered the marriage hall. There was also a photo of his back taken by her secretly.
Stanley’s heart sank as if it had collapsed. He looked at the photos and texts on his phone, as if reliving the wonderful journey they had shared together.
But all of this came to a sudden halt six months ago.
Karissa only logged into the account for the last time last night. After changing her mood status to “forget it,” she submitted a request
for account cancellation to the customer service.
What does that mean?
Did she eventually give up on him?
Stanley sat on the swing until it got dark and then returned to his bedroom, feeling as if his soul had been drained.
He chose to lie in the position where Karissa usually slept, hoping to feel her body temperature in this way. However, all he could touch
was a cold sheet
A person’s night is truly sleepless with a lonely pillow.
In the moment of despair, a thought suddenly flashed through Stanley’s mind. She had left him a surprise gitt, perhaps wanting him to come find her on their wedding anniversary day!
The hour hand on the wall clock just crossed midnight at this moment, and it is now a new day, also their fifth wedding anniversary.
Stanley sat up and quickly opened the box that was placed on the bedside table.
Suddenly, as if struck by lightning-
Divorce Settlement was unexpectedly the outcome.
In an instant, fear, despair, and helplessness surged over him like a tidal wave, forcing him to get dressed and rush out of the villa at the fastest speed. He drove straight to the nearest police station.
The on–duty police officer was startled by the sudden rush of the person in front of him and said, “Sir, take your time and tell me what’s going on.”
Stanley rushed in with three steps and two steps, and he exclaimed, “I want to file a report! My wife is missing! She didn’t leave any message before leaving, and I can’t reach her anywhere…”
The police, upon learning that someone had gone missing, immediately asked him for the specific time and location. He hesitated for a moment and said, “She should have left from home and later went to the mountaintop to stargaze. As for the exact time, it might have
been last night.”
Nothing can be explained clearly.
The police officer asked, “Were you and your wife so distant in your relationship?”
Stanley gave a bitter smile and said, “Our relationship has always been good, but… I have been busy with work lately and there have been some misunderstandings, so I haven’t been able to come home as frequently as before.”
The police did not ask any more questions, but instead brought in colleagues to locate the places where Karissa’s cellphone signal had appeared, based on the clues he provided, such as the phone number.

Stanley waited patiently, as time seemed to pass by slowly. The pitch–black sky gradually started to brighten, but he still didn’t receive any news related to her.
There was a strange phone call that came in.
Stanley quickly answered the call, “Is it Karissa?”
“Mr. Vargas, we were the police officers from the Frost Mountain district. When could you come to the police station to claim Karissa’s belongings?”
Stanley escaped for a whole night, just to avoid this outcome.
He would rather believe that Karissa was sulking, hiding, and disappeared.
This phone call was just a prank
is last shred of illusion
But the urgent phone call from the police station shattered his
“Is my wife… her… body, at your police station?”
The other party said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Vargas. There are many wild animals around Frost Mountain. We have organized a search team, but we couldn’t find your wife’s body. Only a blood–stained and torn piece of clothing was found. We suspect that her body may have been eaten by wild animals….”
“Stop talking…”
“Mr. Vargas, it is very difficult to survive a fall from the mountaintop, especially with wild beasts. Please accept our condolences.”
“I told you not to say it anymore!!!”
He angrily hung up the phone
And that number was blocked.
However, soon another new number dialed in.
Stanley couldn’t contain the madness within him and shouted out loud, “My wife couldn’t have d call me anymore!”
Across the way, there was a calm and composed voice
died! Impossible! I will find her, don’t
“Hello, Mr. Vargas, I am Karissa’s appointed lawyer. She has some things she would like me to convey to you. Do you have time for a meeting?
“Karissa had something to tell me?”
“Okay, I will go right away!”
Without hesitation, Stanley drove to the law firm as a
agreed with the other party.
I was extremely anxious all the way, not knowing how many red lights I had run through, completely disregarding traffic rules and my own safety.
The lawyer invited him into the office and politely handed him a document, saying, “This is the divorce agreement that Karissa asked me to give you. She has already signed it in advance.”
Stanley widened his eyes and looked at the divorce agreement in disbelief, asking, “Where is she? Even if we are getting divorced, I still need to hear it directly from her!”
He didn’t believe that she could be so heartless.
The lawyer said calmly, “Ms. Mullen has entrusted me with full authority regarding the matter. If you have any objections to the agreement, just let me know.”
Stanley took the divorce agreement and trembled slightly as he said, “I would not agree to a divorce, it is absolutely impossible!”
The next second, he tore the agreement into pieces and threw it into the trash can.
The lawyer, upon seeing this, slightly raised the corners of his mouth, revealing a knowing smile. He calmly said, “Mr. Vargas, Ms. Mullen had already anticipated that you would tear up the first divorce agreement, so she specifically instructed me to prepare several copies. By the way, she took one with her, probably brought it home. Didn’t you see it?
