Chapter 18
She didn’t scream like a pig being slaughtered until she was taken into the delivery room: “How dare you touch my child! I am carrying Stanley’s legitimate firstborn, who will inherit the family fortune in the future!”
“Stop shouting, it was Mr. Vargas who instructed us to terminate the baby in your belly.”
“What…”
Stanley was even more heartless than she had thought.
When Stanley received the news, he didn’t even plan to listen to it. With a cold face, he waved his hand and said, “Just get rid of it. Don’t bother telling me about her affairs anymore. If she causes trouble again, find a way to handle it properly.”
“Yes,” the assistant immediately changed the topic, “Mr. Vargas, there is one more thing I need to report to you. A private detective in Belhaven has found someone who looks very similar to your wife. However, due to the unclear quality of the surveillance footage, we
cannot be completely certain…”
Stanley wasted no time and without hesitation, he bought a ticket for the nearest flight and promptly headed to Belhaven.
Upon arrival at the destination, there was not even a moment to catch one’s breath, as they immediately got in touch with a private detective.
The private detective took him and quickly found the apartment where the girl was said to have rented.
Unfortunately, he arrived too late.
After the door was knocked open, an old foreign lady walked out, looking cautiously at him and the accompanying police officer, and asked, “Do you have any business with me?”
Stanley asked hopefully, “Is there still a female tenant living here? I am her husband and I need to speak with her.”
“I am the landlord here. The tenant you mentioned did exist, but she had already moved out
The old lady looked at him coldly and said, “I a and left three days ago.”
Before the words had even finished, she reached out and closed the door.
Stanley risked getting his hand caught and jammed the door, anxiously asking, “Did she mention where she was going? Like the destination of her trip? I’m really worried about her.”
The landlord couldn’t really hold his hand in front of the police, but he impatiently said, “I don’t know, a man should have manners
instead of lingering after a breakup. Sir, please let go.”
She had not been in contact with Karissa for long, but being women, they had a certain understanding. She had already guessed that Karissa had come all the way to Belhaven because she had been hurt emotionally.
Stanley didn’t expect the harm he had caused Karissa to be so evident, and he withdrew his hand in disappointment.
The next second, the door was closed tightly with a loud “bang“.
Stanley felt guilty, but he still couldn’t bear to give up on his relationship with Karissa after all these years.
He mobilized all his connections, even spending a large sum of money to hire private detectives to investigate the immigration records
of major airports in Belhaven, in an attempt to find any clues related to Karissa’s whereabouts.
The result was no different from his efforts in the country. No matter how experienced detectives he hired, they couldn’t find any
records related to her.
Neither Karissa nor KM had any records.
Karissa seemed to have evaporated from the face of the earth.
At this point, Stanley completely lost the only remaining connection with her..
After returning home, Stanley didn’t go anywhere. He walked into his house with heavy steps, like a walking corpse, and then locked himself in the bedroom, under the astonished paze of the servants.
From that day on, the number of times he stepped out of the house became few and far between, as if he intended to isolate himself
1/1
from the outside world.
The servants saw it, but none of them dared to speak up.
Anyway, their salaries were automatically deposited into their accounts, so as long as they continued to work as instructed before Karissa left, it would be fine.
Stanley’s parents were not informed of the serious situation until the assistant came to visit him once.
Orion Johanna always thought that Stanley and Karissa were living happily, and having a child would make their lives even more complete.
Little did they know, the young couple had reached the point of marital crisis, and they immediately rushed over.
The villa looked no different from before, with clean windows everywhere, even the flowers in the living room vase were remembered by the servant to be changed every few days, but the owner of the house, Stanley, was nowhere to be found
Johanna anxiously stopped a servant and asked, “Where is Stanley? How has he been doing lately?”
The servant was also afraid that something might happen to the employer. At this moment, seeing that someone finally came to take charge, he hurriedly relayed the situation: “Mr. Vargas has been locking himself in the bedroom. We deliver three meals a day, but he neither eats nor drinks. He just sits at the table and writes.”
Johanna wondered, “What should I write?
