Chapter 12 Don’t Shift the Blame
“That’s right,” Fabian replied.
Hearing that. Sierra secretly breathed a sigh of relief, figuring the arm Phantom described must have been Fabian’s. It seemed only she and Fabian were in the room from beginning to end.
“Then… Did we … do it?” she suddenly said, blushing slightly.
Seeing how shy she was, he teased her, “Gee, you came on to me and were all over me yesterday. Don’t you remember it at all?”
Hearing this, she blushed even more. Though she was shy, she felt mostly angry. “I asked you to leave. Why didn’t you?”
He arched an eyebrow and said unhurriedly. “It’s my room. Why should I
leave?
“You broke in. And now, you’re blaming me before I find fault with you?” He made it clear that he was the room’s owner and shifted the blame to her with a frivolous expression, leaning back elegantly.
Utterly annoyed, she said, “Don’t try to shift the blame, OK?”
Yet, he smiled, “I don’t have to. You’re responsible for the whole thing.”
“Are you serious? Don’t you think I lost out more after we slept together? I haven’t asked you to compensate me. How could you bring yourself to say this?” She looked at him in great disbelief. For the first time, she wast so enraged that the veins on her forehead throbbed.
Then she crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes. Changing the subject,
she said angrily, “Even though it was your room, I didn’t barge in on purpose. It was an emergency. I had no choice.
“But you? You clearly could see I was drugged. Instead of helping me, you let me do that to you. You were trying to get fresh with me, right?” Now that he dared to let her take the blame, of course, she would fight
back
Being smeared, Fabian smiled sarcastically, “Get fresh with you? Really? Do you think I’m that desperate for women? Countless women are lining. up to be in bed with me but can’t get a chance. Why would I get fresh with you? What do you have to make me wanna do that?”
“You… What are you suggesting?” Sierra was furious. She thought, “I’ve got a great figure, OK? I know I’m a bit skinny, but at least I’ve got curves in all the right places. This is just BS!”
Fabian almost burst out laughing. He had only meant to tease her, yet to his surprise, she took it so seriously.
“If I want to, I can get a sexy woman here right now. Ms. Cordova, if your don’t believe me, feel free to stay and watch.” He kept smiling
provocatively and sarcastically.
He was the most shameless person Sierra had ever met. If so many women were interested in him, why did he agree to their engagement yesterday?
What a jerk!
Noticing her silence, Fabian seemed to have sensed something, and hist expression turned serious. “I’m just trying to tell you that if I want to, I won’t be short of women. So, I won’t get fresh with women I come across, and of course, I won’t sleep with just any women. That’s not who I am.”
She looked him in the eye. She didn’t know him well, so it was hard for

her to determine whether he was telling the truth or not.
Finally, she took a deep breath and regained her composure.
She decided to let go. Whatever happened last night, she didn’t want him. to compensate her in any way, so she didn’t want to dwell on it.
After all, she took the initiative, so she’d accept the consequences.
“Mr. Lester, what happened yesterday isn’t something to brag about. If word gets out, it’ll affect both of us. Besides, we’re engaged. How about we keep it between us?” she looked at him, saying earnestly.
“Keep it between us?” He looked at her, his gaze deep. She was really something. She was drugged and “forced” him into having sex with her yesterday, yet with just a few words, she made it sound like a secret they both should keep.
“That’s right. If anyone else knows about this, your reputation will be tarnished, too.” She looked at him seriously.
“I’m a man. It won’t affect me,” he said nonchalantly.
Taking a deep breath, she squinted, looked at him, and said slowly, “Then could you please keep it a secret for me?”
“If you put it like that… Sure.
“I’ll help you keep what happened between us a secret.” He sipped his coffee leisurely and looked at her back.
Sierra was a bit relieved after hearing this, but not entirely.
She thought, “Does he mean it? From yesterday until now, this is just the second time we’ve met. Can I really trust him?”
Seeing through her, he asked, “You don’t believe me?”
“How so? Mr. Lester, you’re an influential figure, and your words count. Of course, I believe you,” she smiled, figuring that if he broke his
promise, she’d make him pay.
“Well then. Mr. Lester, since we already shook hands on it, I’ll get out of your hair now.”
With that, she stood up and walked to the door. Suddenly, she stopped and said, “By the way, it’s really hard to get through to you on the phone.”
Then she opened the door and left.
As Fabian watched her retreating figure, a hint of admiration appeared on his face. It was the first time a woman had dared to speak to him so fearlessly. He couldn’t help but exclaim, “Deity surely lives up to her reputation.”
Women who were both brave and charming were rare these days.
But… What did she mean by that last sentence?
Suddenly, he realized something. He walked back to his desk and picked up his phone.
Nodding, he saved the number he had blocked.
As Sierra walked out of the Lester Group, she received a message from Phantom.
“See if this guy is the one you’re looking for.”
Then he sent her a photo.
Smiling, she texted him back, “I knew I could always count on you. That’s

the one.”
Phantom replied to her with a smiling emoji. Then he texted. “I’m your exclusive intelligence agent. OK? If I can’t handle such a small thing, I might as well quit.”
Ignoring his joke. Sierra texted him back, focusing on business, “Find out all the people he talked to at the party. See if there’s a possibility that he has been bribed.”
After quite a while. Phantom finally texted her back, seemingly realizing something. “He’s the one who drugged you?”
She sent him an eye–rolling emoji and texted. “Cut the crap. Text me back when you have new findings.”
Then she put away her phone and went back home.
She arrived at the Cordova’s manor half an hour later.
She thought no one would be home at this time, but to her surprise, Karla was waiting for her in the living room.
“Rara, you’re back. Come and sit.” At the sight of Sierra, Karla beamed.
Looking at Karla, who was so enthusiastic, though Sierra still hadn’t gotten fully used to it, she sat down obediently anyway.
Yet, in the next second, Karla asked with a gossipy look on her face, “Did you just come back from Fabian’s office?”
