Chapter 20 The Commotion in the Cafeteria
“No need for that, I’m fine sitting here,” Sierra said, declining Ms. Bailey’s kind offer without even glancing at the seat that was assigned to
her.
“Ah… well, for an outstanding student like you, it doesn’t matter where you sit,” Ms. Bailey said with an awkward smile.
“Let’s start the class,” Ms. Bailey announced.
All the students took out their textbooks, yet Sierra didn’t. She was still holding a French book, completely unaware of the curious gazes from Ms. Bailey and the others.
“Sierra, this is Ms. Bailey’s class, why are you holding that?” Miley, the
class monitor said.
“Why are you so nosy? Ms. Bailey hasn’t said anything, and what I read. doesn’t affect you. If you have nothing to do, just keep quiet!” Sierra immediately countered, seeing through Miley’s attempt to provoke her.
“Ms. Bailey, look at her…” Miley began, but her words were interrupted by Ms. Bailey.
Ms. Bailey quickly stepped in to ease the situation. “You may not know this, but Sierra has already completed all the lessons on her own. You should all learn from her.
“From now on, if Sierra wants to read something in my class, she can,” Ms. Bailey added, praising Sierra while also finding a way out for herself.
The students were even more impressed after hearing Ms. Bailey out.
Chapter 20 The Commotion in the Cafeteria
Seeing that Sierra was far ahead of her, Miley tightened her grip on her pen. Jealousy was burning in her heart. She was sure she could do it, too. She wanted the teachers and students to admire her in the same way.
During class, Miley listened attentively, while Sierra leisurely read her
book.
Before long, the morning classes were over, and the bell rang. The students gathered their things and headed toward the cafeteria.
At that moment, a female student came up to Sierra’s desk and said. cautiously, “Hello, Sierra, I’m Abbey.”
Sierra looked up at the girl, and after sizing her up, said, “Hello.”
“It’s lunch break. Would you like to go to the cafeteria together?” Abbey asked, blinking her big eyes, seemingly waiting for Sierra’s response.
“The cafeteria…” Sierra thought for a moment.
“Abbey, you really are something, already trying to latch onto the top student? She’s number one in the entire school and the grade–do you really think she would eat with you? She probably doesn’t even know what the cafeteria looks like!” Miley sneered as she stood up and mocked Sierra.
“Miley, I don’t mind that, but you shouldn’t speak to a new student like that.” Abbey couldn’t stand Miley’s bullying and angrily retorted.
“Abbey, who do you think you are? Latching onto her doesn’t mean you’re superior to me, OK?” Miley shot a glance at her friend Tania, who immediately walked over and attempted to slap Abbey.
However, the slap never came.
Hearing the painful cry, Abbey slowly opened her eyes to see what had
happened, only to find Sierra holding Tania’s hand.
“How dare you? You girls surely have guts.” Sierra said coldly, her eyes fixed on Tania.
Not expecting Sierra to stand up for Abbey, Miley widened her eyes in surprise. She barked, “Sierra, let go of her!”
Sierra shot Miley a cold glance before throwing it to Tania. “If I see you beat anyone again, I’ll make sure you end up in the orthopedics department.”
After a quick look at Miley, Sierra released Tania’s hand and turned to Abbey. “Let’s go, to the cafeteria.”
“See? She’s not at all what you said.” Abbey said as she passed Miley.
“I like her style.” Marvin from the last row of the class murmured as he watched Sierra leave.
“Marvin, you don’t mean…?” Sam Dalton, Marvin’s sidekick, asked with a mischievous grin.
Marvin gave Sam a look. He then stood up and said. “Let’s go, to the cafeteria.”
“What? The cafeteria? But the food there…” Sam protested.
“Stop wasting time! Hurry up!” Marvin snapped at Sam and quickly walked out.
“Ms. Cordova, you were so cool just now! Miley and her lackeys were totally frightened,” Abbey praised as she walked beside Sierra.
“Ms. Cordova, do you know martial arts?” Abbey asked curiously.

Annoyed by Abbey’s way of addressing her. Sierra finally said, “Don’t call me like that. Just call me ‘Sierra‘ from now on.”
“Really?” Abbey’s eyes brightened with excitement. Did this mean they were officially friends now?
Sierra, a bit embarrassed by Abbey’s eager look, gave a slight nod.
At the cafeteria entrance, Sierra stopped and peered inside. The place was so crowded. There were simply too many people!
Abbey seemed to understand what Sierra was thinking about and said, “Sierra, this is just how the cafeteria is. You don’t actually…?”
Sierra shot a look at Abbey, who immediately fell silent.
“Quick. look! There’s a pretty girl!” A clear voice cut through the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria, and everyone’s gaze immediately shifted toward the entrance.

“Wow! I can’t believe it!” Some of the boys were so stunned that their eyes went wide.
“Which class is she from? I haven’t seen her before.”
“We’re about to grab some food, so could you…?” Before Abbey could finish her sentence, the crowd immediately parted to make way.
Abbey glanced at the crowd, and then, under everyone’s watchful e she walked toward the food counter.
Abbey had been to the cafeteria many times, but this was the first time she had experienced such treatment. She quickly followed Sierra’s lead, enjoying the moment, her face beaming with a smile.
“Sierra, you’re really something,” Abbey whispered to Sierra as she walked beside her.
Behind them, Miley took in the whole scene in the cafeteria. Her arms. crossed, she jealously muttered, “Shame on her! Making such a scene just to get food! Ruins Class A’s reputation!”
“Miley, I don’t think so,” Tania suddenly spoke up from the side.
“What do you know!” Miley shot Tania an irritated glare.
After getting their food, the two girls sat down at a table. The eyes of many around them were focused on Sierra, and several were even eager to
come over and strike up a conversation with her.
Suddenly, a boy sat down with his food tray across from Sierra. Sierra

didn’t even raise her head as she continued eating, and Abbey ignored.
him as well.
The boy hesitated for a moment, about to ask Sierra for her name, but the next second, two figures blocked his view. He looked up and saw that it was Marvin from Class A. Thus, the boy stood up and made way for him.
“Marvin, please sit.”
Marvin sat down with a satisfied look. He then looked at Sierra with affection in his eyes.
Abbey’s heart skipped a beat when she saw Marvin sitting across from them. She knew he would cause trouble since he didn’t come to the
cafeteria for no reason. The last time he came, it was because of a r from another class. Who was his target today?
“Sierra, the guy sitting across from you is the principal’s grandson. He’s notorious as the school bully. To avoid trouble, we should finish our meal. quickly and leave,” Abbey whispered in Sierra’s ear.
Sierra seemed not to hear Abbey’s warning and continued eating. Abbey, who caught Marvin’s glare, quickly lowered her head, not daring to speak
anymore.
Marvin, seeing that Sierra didn’t even glance at him, sighed and took the initiative to speak up. “Goddess, I fell for you at first sight. Be my girlfriend.”
“You’re not worthy.” Sierra didn’t even look up as she spoke.
Upon hearing that, Marvin was dumbfounded, his face turning pale. The cafeteria fell into silence. No girl had ever dared to reject him in public before. Sierra was the first.
For Marvin, being publicly rejected was like a slap in the face. His anger

flared up instantly, and he swiped at the food tray in front of Sierra.
“You think you’re tough? How dare you challenge me on your first day here?
“I only offered you the chance to be my girlfriend because you’re pretty, but I won’t give you a second one!” Marvin, embarrassed and furious, started shouting at Sierra.
Sierra had never been insulted like this before. She raised her head and gave Marvin a cold, disdainful look.
“So you can hear me…” Marvin didn’t finish his sentence when he suddenly lost his balance and fell backward, knocking over the table behind him.
The sudden incident left everyone stunned. No one could figure out how he fell. Only Marvin himself knew the truth.
“Marvin, are you okay?” Sam quickly rushed over to help Marvin up.
Abbey, who had been standing nearby, was too shocked to even breathe. She was the closest to the two, having seen the whole thing clearly. When she finally came to her senses, her face filled with shock as she
mechanically turned to look at Sierra. “Sierra, you just got yourself into trouble!”
“Don’t even think about leaving the cafeteria intact!” Marvin, helped up by Sam, angrily glared at Sierra. This was the first time he had ever been beaten up.
“Is that so? Well, I’m curious to see what you can do.” With that, Sierra stood up and walked toward the door.
As she headed to the door, several of Marvin’s lackeys gathered around
