I gave him and Melissa many chances, but they pushed their luck. I had repaid my debt, and I refused to waste my time arguing with a stupid guy like Lawrence, so I kicked him out. It was written in the divorce agreement that this property would be mine after we
divorced.
However, Lawrence kept coming over, which annoyed me, so I moved out. I called my best friends, and they came over.
“Can’t believe you didn’t tell us you were married to Lawrence.”
“You let that bitch mock you for seven years. Man, you sure can take the abuse.”
“Can you not bring the bad vibes in? We should celebrate Zoe getting out of the hellhole.”
They wanted to celebrate, but I just got an abortion, so light food was all I could eat. They, however, shoved all the good food into their mouths, and I kept gulping. Sometimes my friends could really be annoying.
Jonathan, the award–winning actor, was an aloof man and smart in the public’s eyes. His fans thought he was as cunning as the villains he played.
In reality, he was playful and an airhead. Whenever we got together, we loved to tease him. Harold was a singer, and he was also a troublemaker. He knew Jonathan was a lousy drinker, but he kept making Jonathan drink.

Chapter 6 Gathering
One glass of booze later, Jonathan was a blob of jelly squiggling across the ground. He hugged my leg and acted like a buffoon.
“Don’t shake, Zoe. I’m dizzy. Come on, carry me in the game. I played ten seasons and couldn’t even get the highest rank. My teammates kept trash–talking me because I didn’t know how to play my character, but I couldn’t even win in trash talk…”
The more he spoke, the sadder he was. Eventually, he was all teary–eyed, and my other friends wouldn’t stop laughing. Not me. I had to pull my leg away, or he wouldn’t let go.
His poor manager was looking worried. “I would still worry about him even if I got five assistants to keep an eye on him. What if his persona crumbles in public someday? If I knew he was an idiot, I wouldn’t have made him an aloof celeb.”
Damn right, he was.
Weirdly enough, though Jonathan was an airhead, he did look like an aloof person, so I could understand why Jonathan’s manager had been deceived. We messed around for a while more before my friends left. They were busy, and even this little gathering only happened because they had squeezed time out of their schedule.
Before Harold left, he said quietly, “Zoe, I’ve been helping you since your debut. If you’re finding another agency, consider mine first, okay? My brother promised one percent more than any cut Jonathan can give you.‘
Harold’s brother was the company’s owner, so he was a rich guy.
“I’ll think about it.” After sending them off, I plopped down on the couch and watched some TV. For years, I did my best realizing Lawrence’s dream. It had been a while since I had some leisure time like this.
A few weeks went by, but Starlight Entertainment remained a hot topic. They could stop dreaming about getting listed in the next few years. It was a shame, to be honest. I could get more money if it was listed.
There were still two days before the grace period for divorce was over, and Lawrence
wanted to see me.
