I yawned. “How long will that take? Two years? Three? I can’t wait that long. It’s a shame I can’t get the shares, but it is what it is.”
“You’re in that much of a hurry?”
“Yes.”

Lawrence probably felt insulted, and there was sadness and anger in his eyes. “We’ve known each other for ten years, Zoe. Married for seven. You’ve never loved me, even for a

Ugh, I could barf. “Lawrence, use your head for a moment and think about how I lived the past decade. Would you really fall in love with yourself if you were in my shoes?”

lawyer to peruse the papers before scurrying off. If he had even a shred of shame, he would have signed the papers like I asked him to.
We met when I was 18. I was a transfer student, while he was a top student. Back then, he was in love with Melissa, the school belle. Everyone knew their love story. Melissa was a lousy student who couldn’t even get into college. She also came from a poor family.
Fortunately, she had decent looks, so she tried her hand at an influencer job, but she was worried about getting scammed if she tried it out alone, so she asked Lawrence to go with
her.
Lawrence’s father died when he was very young, and his mother married a rich man after that. The responsibility of raising him was thrown to his grandmother. After his grandmother died, he lived alone.
He was starved of love, given the environment he grew up in, so he desperately held onto everyone who loved him. He was a young man back then, and in the spur of the moment, he dropped out of school to work as Melissa’s assistant.
Eventually, Melissa hooked up with her top subscriber and dumped him. He tried to get back together with her multiple times, but she said no and even mocked him.
He got back to school eventually, but he didn’t care about studying, so his grades took a nosedive. So did his temper. As per his mother’s request, I brought lunch for him every day and made sure he had his meals. I even became his
Tutor.
In return, I was mocked, and the food I brought was always thrown into the bin.
