“Karl Gibson? It’s you.. how could it be you? I thought you were…”
Aaron’s eyes flickered with shock. Before he could finish his sentence, a team of elite private soldiers descended from the helicopter,
surrounding the area in seconds.
Karl Gibson leapt down effortlessly from the ladder, his sharp eyes scanning the scene. Behind him, a team of medics rushed to my side, administering antivenom and treating my wounds.
“Weren’t I already dead? Is that what you were hoping for?” Karl rsmirked before turning to me.
“My dear Jennifer, this is the man you insisted on marrying. If it weren’t for your family faking bankruptcy, we might never have seen
his true colors.”
His voice dripped with disdain. “You even begged me to secretly support this trash. Let me enlighten you–when the Carters “collapsed,‘ Aaron didn’t just abandon us. He orchestrated it. He paid off our chauffeur to stage that car accident, all to leave you with
no one to turn to.!!
Aaron’s face flushed with a mix of anger and fear. He gritted his teeth.
“You’re lying! The group that helped me back then was Blackthorn Capital, not you!”
At that moment, I gathered enough strength to raise my eyes, my voice cold
“If you had half a brain, you’d know Karl is our family’s adopted son–and the real heir to Blackthorn. I hope you still remember one of the founders of the Blackthom Capital was Gibsan”
The livestream exploded.
[BLACKTHORN?! The trillion–dollar empire?! Their missing heir was Karl Gibson all along?!]
[Those soldiers wear Blackthorn insignias. Rumor says they have connections in both Wall Street and the underworld.]
[And Aaron’s too clueless to even realize the kind of man he is? From Karl’s words, it sounds like Aaron’s been using him, even plotting to murder Jennifer’s family. A real Judas!)

Seeing the direction the online audience was heading, both Aaron and Wendy were visibly rattled.
They instinctively tried to return to their helicopter and escape, but to their surprise, the pilot had already flown it away.

After that, Karl helped me to my feet and was about to lead me away.
But then, suddenly, Aaron’s voice came from behind us:
“Jennifer, wait, don’t go…”
“I don’t know what happened… I didn’t realize you had helped me so much… It’s my fault. I’m sorry. Let’s start over, okay? I’ll make it up to you. Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you.”
I glanced back at him, my eyes filled with cold contempt:

“Please don’t leave, I beg you…”
Seeing this, I paused at the helicopter door, narrowed my eyes and said coolly,
“Enjoy the walk, Mr. Preston, and then we can talk”
The door slammed shut.
