Chapter 2
Hearing Antonio’s words, Yvonne mocked me, “Grace, as a woman, you should be kind, just like me.
“If you keep being like this, Antonio will only disgust you even more.”
The clock was ticking; I didn’t have time to argue with this despicable pair.
Unlike the last time, I didn’t force Antonio to stay to save his parents today.
Instead, I looked at him and said flatly, “I’ve already told you about my prediction and analysis. It’s up to you whether you believe it or not.
This book had been added on your bookshelf.
“Oh, and one more thing. The wedding next month is off the table. We’re done.”
Antonio’s expression changed.
Yvonne, however, wrapped her arms around his and added fuel to the flame. “Give us a break, Grace. You really went all out to stop us from taking this trip. First, the flood, and now this? You’re such a drama
queen.
“You guys may get married soon, but that doesn’t mean you get to limit. Antonio’s freedom. Stop pushing him, OK?”
Antonio soon regained his composure after hearing her words.
He sneered, “Grace, I know you’re bluffing.
Chapter 2
“You’re three months pregnant. And now, you’re telling me you wanna cancel the wedding?
“We’ve been together for three years and finally are getting married. You really can let go?”
Yes, I could.
In fact, before I went back in time, I was planning on breaking up with
him.
But I didn’t get to say so because of the flood and Yvonne’s death.
Before I could propose it, Antonio tossed me into the reservoir.
Now, after seeing his true colors, I was even more eager to leave him.
“Bye, Antonio. Good luck with your trip,” I said and turned to leave.
Seeing how resolute I was, Antonio hesitated again.
Yvonne leaned closer to him and said coquettishly, “Antonio, don’t leave with her, OK? There’s nothing attractive about her.
“I’d be so scared if I had to trip alone. Stay with me to protect me, OK?”
Hearing this, Antonio stopped wavering. He took her hand and headed to the security checkpoint without hesitation.
After walking out of the airport, I drove to Stone Town as fast as I could.
Things between Antonio and I were over, but I must save his parents; they
were nice to me.
Not to mention there were hundreds of residents in Stone Town.
42.38%

After thinking about it, I called Antonio’s mom, Jodie Kaufman.
“Jodie, Stone Cliff Reservoir is about to release floodwater. Tell Mr. Potter to evacuate the town people right now.”
Lonnie Potter was the town’s mayor. After a few seconds of silence, Jodie asked skeptically, “But we didn’t hear anything. Besides, it’s not raining. How could the reservoir release floodwater?
“Grace, who told you this? Where’s Antonio?”
I answered calmly, “He left today with a friend for a trip.
“Jodie, I’m an engineer, and my specialty is natural disaster prevention. I won’t make a mistake about this. There’s gonna be a heavy rainstorm at Stone Cliff, and the reservoir won’t be able to hold for long. It will discharge floodwater soon.
“Once it does, the entire town will be in danger. Evacuate now. I’m on my way there and will pick you up as soon as possible.”
“OK. I’ll tell Vernon now,” Jodie quickly agreed.
After hanging up, I called my superior, Tyree Kirk.
I had predicted the flood and submitted a report about it quickly about an hour ago.
Logically speaking, he had already reached out to relevant departments and issued a flood warning.
However, he said impatiently after picking up the phone, “Antonio has already told me. It’s just a lie. You wanna stop him from going on a trip.
“Grace, how could you mix personal affairs with work? And you even wanted the authority to issue a flood warning? Are you outta your mind?
“I’ve already withdrawn your report. I’ll let you slide this time for Antonio’s sake.
“But if you act so willfully again, you’ll be fired.”
Only then did it occur to me that Tyree and Antonio were close friends. I had no idea Antonio had already called Tyree.
What was even more surprising and unacceptable was that as an expert, Tyree didn’t believe my prediction at all.
I was about to explain, but Tyree had already hung up the phone.
I guessed issuing a flood warning was out of the picture now.
Having no other options, I could only rush straight to Stone Town.
I thought Jodie would immediately inform Lonnie after receiving my call so that he could arrange for the evacuation.
Yet, as I arrived at Stone Town, everyone was acting normally and unworriedly. Some were selling things on the streets, and some were taking a stroll. Not a single one of them was evacuating at all.
What was going on? There was now only an hour left before the flood. How come they weren’t evacuating?
