Chapter 29
“But… but this is too fast.” Jacinta choked up, unable to hold back her tears. “At this rate, how can we find a cornea in time? What are we going to do, Abigail? What about your eyesight…”
Hearing, Jacinta’s voice tremble, Abigail felt a lump in her throat and grabbed her hand.
Ryan said in a deep voke, “I will find a new comea, Abby. I won’t let you go blind.”
“Thank you,” she said with a bitter smile,
Atter everything she had been through recently, she finally understood what it meant to be powerless.
Sometimes, fate was bizarre some things, it seemed, were just not meant for her. Perhaps the heavens simply wanted her to lose her sight.
Eric hadn’t lett. His car was parked by the side of the road outside Abigall’s apartment complex, the window rolled down, and a cigarette dangled from his fingers. The entire car was filled with swirling smoke.
Her unseeing eyes kept appearing in his mind.
He remembered how beautiful her eyes had been, clear like a spring, but now, they had turned into stagnant water.
He recalled how she had once pleaded with him, telling him that there was a problem with her eyes and that she needed a cornea transplant. Unfortunately, he didn’t believe her.
Why hadn’t he believed her back then?
Even on the day of the surgery, he had cruelly taken her cornea, causing her blindness now.
The more he thought about it, the worse he felt. His chest seemed to be weighed down, and it was hard to breathe.
His phone rang, and he answered it. His subordinate informed him that Abigail’s medical records had been found.
He opened the file and saw a dense list of medical records. It turned out her condition had been ongoing for a long time, and he had never known about it.
At that moment, Erie realized how neglectful he had been. He had been living with her and still hadn’t noticed her eye problem.
But why hadn’t he been able to find her records when he had people investigate before? Why was it only now that the information came to Eight?
His face darkened. He had to find out who was behind this.
The night grew darker
Jacinta helped Abigail, who had just finished showering, back to her bed. She still couldn’t put her mind at ease. “How about I stay with you tonight? If you need to go to the bathroom or drink water in the middle of the night, you can call me.
Abigail smiled and shook her head. “No. You go back to your room. I might disturb you. You have work tomorrow. I’ll be fine on my own.”
Jacinta knew she was pretending to be strong. Losing sight must be more frightening for Abigail than anyone else could imagine.
Her eyes reddened again, and she couldn’t help but hug Abigail
“Abby…”
Abigail’s nose also felt right, and her eyes were unbearably sone, but unfortunately, she couldn’t see anything now.
“How about we go to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow? I want to know your condition so we can figure out the next steps,” Jacinta said softly.
Abigail nodded. “Okay, I’ll do whatever you say.
The following day, Jacinta woke up early and made breakfast for Abigail. Afterward, she gently took her hand and led her out.
Now blind, Abigail was like a child, needing someone to guide her as she walked
As they reached the entrance to the apartment complex, Jacinta noticed a car parked nearby, which seemed familiar. She stared at the car for a moment, her brow furrowing
Abigail noticed Jacinta had gone silent and asked, “What’s wrong? Did you see something?”
“It’s nothing,” Jacinta replied.
Soon, a car arrived, and she guided Abigail into it.
