Chapter 30
It wasn’t until the car left that Fric followed them.
He hadn’t slept all night, his eyes bloodshot, and he had been chain–smoking. The ground around him was littered with cigarette burts, and at 5:00 am, he had even been scolded by a street cleaner.
All he wanted to know was the condition of Abigail’s eyes.
Jacinta accompanied Abigail throughout the examination process at the hospital. Then, they quietly waited for the results.
Jacinta said to Abigail, “You stay here for a while. I’ll go get you a bottle of water.”
“Okay.” Abigail nodded.
Since she couldn’t see, Jacinta was concerned and even brought her a white cane from the hospital to help her.
Abigail sat quietly in a chair in the corridor, holding the came. The sunlight fell on her, and even though her eyes couldn’t focus, they still looked so clear and beautiful
Suddenly, a child ran past and tripped over her cane.
The child stumbled, and the cane fell to the ground. After steadying himself, the child ran off.
She was startled. She didn’t know what had happened, but her cane had fallen.
She could only slowly feel around the chale. She weled and used one had to search the ground, trying to pick up the cane.
It wasn’t far away, but she couldn’t quite reach it since she couldn’t see
The scene bugged at the heartstrings. Unable to bear it, Eric walked over, picked up the cane, and gently placed it in her hand.
Abigail touched the cane and smiled. ‘Thank you.*–
He froze momentarily. Before he could speak, a sharp voice interrupted. “Eric, what are you trying to do?”
Jacinta, who had just returned with the water, was furious. She shoved him aside and yelled, “You’ve already ruined Abby’s life, and you still won’t leave her alone?!
“What exactly do your
a want?“!
“Eric?” Abigail was startled and then realized Eric had helped her pick up the cane.
But why was be here?
He frowned and said lowly, “I’m not trying to do anything. I just want to know.ber condition.”
“Do you even care?” Jacinta mocked. “You’ve never cared about her. So why are you here pretending to act concerned?
“If you truly cared, you wouldn’t have taken her corneal Do you know how long she waited for that cornea? Her eyes couldn’t wait any longer!
“And yet, you took it without hesitation for your mistress. I really regret that I couldn’t stop you that day! Before Abby went blind, you showed no sympathy. Now that she’s blind, she doesn’t need your pity. Get lost!”
Eric was yelled at again, and his face turned pale. Seeing Abigail standing quietly beside them, his anger faded by half.
“Come with me,” he said, his voice low. “I’ll find a way to treat your eyes and get you a new comes,
“What is this? A late compensation?” Jacinta snerred. “Abby doesn’t need it. All she needs is you to sign the divorce papers and leave her alone!”
He grew angry. “What does it have to do with you?”
“Her opinion is my opinion,” Abigall said quietly, “Mr. Gomez, I hope you’ll sign the divorce papers soon. Consider it a tower to me since I’ve already gone blind. Please pity me. Thank you”
She took Jacinta’s hand. “Jac, let’s go.”
Before leaving, Jacinta shot Eric one last glare.
He took a deep breath and punched the wall in frustration.
