Chapter 32
Alter descending three flights of stairs, Abigail realized she was now on the first floor, having originally been on the third
She asked, puzzled, “Why is Jac on the first floor?”
The murse responded dismissively, “I’m not sure. Maybe she had something to do on the first floor.”
The nurse continued leading Abigail, and Abigail began to hear the sounds of hanking horns and cars rushing by, along with other noises
It suddenly dawned on her–she had already reached the sidewalk
Wasn’t Jacinta supposed to be waiting for her somewhere in the hospital? Why was she outside now?
Abigail instinctively jerked her hand out of the nurse’s grip and stopped back. “You weren’t sent by Jac Who are you?”
“Wow. You’re quite alert,” a mocking voice rang out.
Abigail froze. Gavin!
She heard footsteps approaching, and Gavin was coming toward her. Fear surged through her, and she took a step back
“What are you afraid of?” He sneered, his gaze cold.
When he noticed her eyes weren’t focused, he laughed derisively. “So you really can’t see now? You’re blind, huh? It’s your punishment! You embarrassed me last night. I’m still pissed off about it!‘
His expression suddenly turned menacing, and he grabbed the back of her neck, tightening his grip “So, you’re coming with me now. I’ll let you go once I’ve had my revenge!”
Abigail’s came fell to the ground. She grabbed Gavin’s hand with both of hers. Let go of me! Let go!‘
He shoved her into a car, climbed in after her, and slammed the door shut.
“Drive!”
After a lengthy explanation with the patient in Ward 3, Jacinta finally managed to calm him down. It took over half an hour.
She hurried back to the office.
“Abby, sorry for making you wait!”
But when she opened the door, the office was empty.
“Abby?”
She wondered if Abigail had gone to the bathroom?
Jacinta took out her phone and called ber, but the phone went unanswered. After a few more tries, it went straight to voicemail
Realization hit her, and panic rose. Something bad happened. She rushed out of the office, calling Abigail’s name.
A nurse passing by saw her and said, “Dr. Bennett, are you looking for your friend? I saw someone take her away a little while ago, I think it was her friend”
“Who was it?” Jacinta asked urgently
The nurse thought for a moment. “It was a woman, short, plain–looking That’s all remember.”
Jacinta’s face was drained of color. A stranger had taken Abigail!
Aside from her, Abigail hardly had any friends. No one knew she had gone blindner that she was in the hospital.
Afigure flashed through her mind. Could it be Eric?
Anger surged through her as she immediately dialed his number.
Eric had just finished his meeting. He saw an unfamiliar number calling and almost hung up, but for some reason, he answered.
“Eric! Where have you taken Abby? What do you want from her?”
He frowned. “What do you mean? Is Abigail missing?”
Nicole, standing nearby and having overheard Abigail’s name, stopped and turned to look at him.
“Don’t play dumb! Didn’t you send someone to take her? I came back and found Abigall gone. Where did you take her?”
