Chapter 49
“I have my own plans. I don’t need you to interfere,” Eric said flatly.
“I’m your mother! Who’s going to interfere if not me? Aan I not even allowed to have a say?” Lucy snapped, her face souring “I was already unhappy with Abigail from the start. She can’t help your career, she’ll only become a burden! If you don’t get rid of her now, when will you?”
“I have my own plans. You should go back for now,” he said, feeling a headache coming on. There was no way to communicate with her. She never understood him.
*Fine!” She sneered. “Now you’re a grown man, and don’t listen to me anymore. Wait until that bastand takes everything from you. That’s when you’ll come to your senses!”
With that, she stormed ofl.
Disgust flickered in Eric’s eyes as he turned and went inside. He went up to the second floor and entered Abigail’s room
Abigail sat on the couch. Though she couldn’t see, she could hear his footsteps.
Now that she was currently blind, her hearing had became incredibly sharp. She could almost tell who was coming by the weight of their footsteps
“Don’t pay attention to what my mom said. He spoke first. I never listen to her, and her words do not affect me ”
She smiled. “What does that have to do with me? I don’t care about the issues between you and your mother. In fact, I would love for her to kick me out.”
His eyes darkened
“Don’t even think about it. Without my permission, you can’t leave here. Stay here peacefully!”
With that, he turned and left without another word
Nancy quietly called Derrick to report the situation. After hearing about it, Derrick instructed her to take good care of Abigall
Lucy was furious as she returned to her villa, growing angrier every moment. Eric, whom she had raised with such difficulty, was now opposing her for the sake of a woman.
She took out her phone and dialed Chase’s number. The call connected, and his tone was impatient. “What now?”
Your daughter–in–law has gone blind!” Lucy sad bitterly.
“Blind? Abigall?” He seemed momentarily stunned. “How did that happen? Are you serious?”
She sneered. “I saw it with my own eyes–how could it be fake? She’s completely blind now! She’s nothing but a burden. She can’t help Eric, and now she’s dragging him down. I told Eric to divorce her, but he refused. Tell me, why would he want to keep a blind woman?
“As his father, you should be the one to talk some sense into him!”
There was a brief pause on the other end. “I understand. I’ll return to the country in a few days and handle it.”
“Really?” Lucy asked suspiciously, surprised to hear him so concerned about Eric for the first t
a time.
She had called him only to vent, not expecting much help from him. Now, it seemed he didn’t care much for her, but at least he was on her side regarding
Eric.
Her anger subsided somewhat. “Fine I wait for you to come back.”
Abigal had hoped that Lucy might persuade Eric to agree to a divorce. However, after that day. Lucy never returned. It seemed she had been convinced by Eric, just like Derrick.
Abigail had even begged Nancy to call Derrick for her, and she had even thought about going to the Gomez residence to stay with him for a while, but Nancy gently refused every time
Abigail became increasingly downcast. She ate less and became more withdrawn. Despite Nancy’s best efforts, she couldn’t cheer Abigail up.
