Chapter 50
Nancy privately sought out Eric.
“Mr. Gomez, Mrs. Gomez is not in a good mental state. If this continues, I’m afraid she might fall into depression,” she said with concern. “You need to spend some time with her.”
He thought for a moment. “I understand.”
That eveỡng, Eric asked Abigail to accompany him to a banquet.
“A blind person like me is supposed to accompany you to a banquet?” Abigail mocked. “Are you trying to have others laugh a
He frowned, “Who would dare laugh at you with me around?”
“Plenty of people will, and aren’t you the one who’s allowing it?
“Abigail,” Eric said, his brow furrowing, “Can you speak properly?”
“Am I not speaking properly now?”
Listening to her cold words, he felt frustrated. He didn’t want to argue anymore and had Mary prepare her clothes and makeup.
She needed to get out and interact with people. Staying inside all day and being blind would only lead to more negative thoughts.
Even though Abigail was unwilling Eric forced her to get ready and led her downstairs.
She was agitated, “I’ve said I won’t go. Why do you have to force me? Why can’t you let me be after all that’s happened to me?”
He noticed her abnormal belunior. Her temper had become much more volarite
He firmly held her hand and pulled her into his arms
“Don’t be nervous. What are you afraid of? I’m here, and I’ll protect you,” he said softly.
“You’ll protect me? Her eyes reddened. “No, you won’t! You’re just saying nice things! I’m not going! Let go of me?
She tried to break free from his embrace, but he swiftly lifted her and placed her into the car.
Abigail was forcefully taken to the banquet. She couldn’t see, but she heard a lot of noise–cir horns, pedestrians tallding, and music playing.
She feared that others would realize she was blind, especially those who had bullied her in the past. She wanted to escape, but she was surrounded by sounds from all directions, her body tense. She didn’t even know which way to run.
Suddenly, a pair of large hands tightly enveloped hers
“You’re too tense. Relax” Eric’s voice came from beside her.
“I want to go back,” Abigel said softly “Please take me back, Eric. I don’t feel well
She rarely spoke with such sofmess, but he couldn’t let her go back.
“Everything’s fine with me here.” He patted her shoulder and forcefully led her inside
She didn’t realize it, but she looked stunning. Her fair skin stood out even more against the green gown, glowing and translocent. Her features were delicate and beautiful; her eyes still speckled even though she couldn’t ser
Eric had ber linked arms with him. “Just follow me. I’ll warn you about any obstacles in front of you.
Abigail kept her head lowered and stayed silent. She didn’t understand why he insisted on bringing her to this banquet.
Why did he not invite Nicole instead?
Before she went blind, he never allowed her to attend such public events, always sending Nicole in her place: Now that she was blind, why did he insist on taking ber?
