“Okay.” Abigail felt reassured.

Chapter 72
It was evident that their relationship had improved. Peter and Nancy were the happiest to see this happening.
Feeling merry about this, Nancy made a phone call to Derrick to tell him about this matter.
Abigail waited patiently for updates on the corneal transplant. However, before any news could arrive, it was Chanse who showed up at her door first. Peter failed to stop Chanse and he successfully barged into Abigail’s room. The door remained shut.
“It’s been a few days. Have you come up with a decision?” Chanse asked.
Abigail slowly clenched her fists. She pursed her lips before saying, “I want to leave this place and go get my eyes treated overseas. You can help me, right?
Chanse’s lips curled into a smile, “Of course! I told you that I’d help you. Just think of it as me making it up to you on Eric’s behalf.”
“Will you be able to override his arrangements? If he finds out about this, he’ll surely stop me from going.” Abigail said worriedly.
Chanse responded, “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure everything’s properly arranged and that you’ll get to go overseas. I’ll come get you once everything’s been arranged. Just wait patiently.”
After a brief pause, he asked another question, “Oh, right. Did you take the medicine I gave you the other time? How’s it working out for you?” His tone was calm. It really sounded like an elder showing concern toward a younger person.
If it was not for Jacinta warning her about the medicine, she would have never doubted Derrick.
With a smile, Abigail said, “Thank you. I think it’s working. My head hurts less after taking it.”
“Really? I’m glad it helped. Let me know once you run out of it, I’ll get them for you.” Once again, a sinister grin appeared on Derrick’s face.
He did not stay for long. After one or two sentences, he immediately got up and left.
This time, his steps were quick. When he got out and saw Peter, he said, “I was just dropping by to pay Abigail a quick visit. I was just asking her about her eyes and whether she’s found a donor for her corneal transplant yet.”
Peter shook his head, “We haven’t heard anything from Mr. Gomez yet.”
Derrick nodded and left without saying anything.
Once Eric returned, the first thing Peter did was tell him about what had happened earlier.
Even though Eric felt rather puzzled by his father’s sudden concern toward Abigail, he did not feel that anything was amiss.
After dinner, Eric acted out character and brought Abigail out into the garden for a walk.
Their relationship had improved in the past two days.
“I’ll take you to the farm tomorrow morning. We’ll leave first thing in the morning, is that okay with you?” Eric asked. Abigail replied calmly, “Sure.”
Now that she could not see anything at all, it did not matter where she went.
Eric did not hold Abigail’s hand. He wanted her to get used to walking on her own.
Eric wanted to warn Abigail about a rock in front of her, but before he could say anything, she had already fallen down.
“Be careful!” He immediately reached out to grab Abigail but ended up losing his balance. They both fell onto the grass.
Eric was underneath, with Abigail falling on him.
“You okay?” he asked.
“I’m fine,” Abigail nodded. She wanted to get up but was immediately held back by Eric.
“It just occurred to me that lying down here seems like a good idea.” With a sudden tug, he pulled Abigail so that she was lying next to him.
Eric turned his head to look at her. She had a calin expression on her face, which was pretty rare. Then, she lifted her head toward the night sky.
“The sky is full of stars tonight. It’s too bad you can’t see them.”
Abigail responded, “If I were to lose my eyesight forever, that’d really be terrifying.”
“That won’t happen. You don’t have to worry,” Eric replied.
Abigail remained silent. She closed her eyes and embraced the peaceful moment.
