Chapter 77
When Eric rushed over, Peter and Mike had already regained consciousness.
“What’s going on? Where’s Abigail? What happened?” Eric asked anxiously.
Mike answered, “The car broke down all of a sudden. Peter had me go take a look. But as soon as I was out of the car, somebody hit me on the head, and I was knocked out!”
“I got out of the car because I heard him cry out. The same thing happened to me as soon as I got out of the car.”
Peter lowered his head in shame, “I’m sorry, Mr. Gomez. My carelessness led to Mrs. Gomez getting kidnapped.”
“It’s not your fault. Find her, go and find her now!”
Eric’s face was frighteningly sullen, “I’d like to see for myself who it is that dares to go against me!”
Every one of his bodyguards was dispatched and the search began.
The search was challenging as there was no surveillance in this area.
Eric began to regret holding onto Abigail’s phone. If she’d had her phone with her, they could have tracked her location.
Meanwhile, Abigail was sitting inside the car, anxiously clamping her hands together.
Chanse looked at her and asked out of the blue, “You look very nervous. Why? Are you afraid I’ll do something to you?”
“Of course not.” Abigail denied it immediately. “You wouldn’t do anything to me. I trust you,” she continued.
“Oh really? That’s good.” Chanse smiled. “There’s no need to be nervous. I’ve said that I’m sending you abroad and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
“I know that you’ve been having a hard time living with Eric. He’s not treating you well either. Going abroad would be a form of liberation for you.”
Abigail lowered her head and said, “You’re right.”
The car never stopped moving. There was no telling if Eric had noticed she had gone missing or not.
Abigail’s heart was racing the entire time. She felt extremely uneasy.
She must have been abducted by Chanse on her way back home. That place was about half an hour’s drive from the airport.
She had secretly been counting the time ever since she got into the car, fearing that Chanse was taking her somewhere else instead of the airport.
More than half an hour later, the car came to a stop.
“We’re here. Time to get off the car,” Chanse said.
Almost immediately, she felt the door by her side swing open. A voice could be heard saying, “Ms. Reed, be careful.”
Abigail could only get out of the car cautiously.
The ambient of her surroundings was lively. Hearing announcements about air tickets made her think that she must surely be at the airport.
Abigail was secretly relieved.
Considering how crowded it must be at the airport, Chanse would not dare do anything to her.
“Let’s go in. I’ve arranged the quickest flight for you. We must hurry. It would be bad if Eric catches up,” Chanse said.
He had just received a report that Eric had discovered Abigail’s disappearance and was looking for her.
Chanse sent a text message to Lucy, asking her to find a way to stall her son.
When Lucy received the text message, she immediately made a call to Eric.
“Where are you? I have something urgent to tell you. Come over right now.”
Eric’s brows furrowed, “Must it be now?”
Lucy feigned innocence, “What do you mean by that? Isn’t it a perfectly normal hour? Is it that hard for you to drop by for a while?”
“I’ve something urgent to attend to. I don’t have the time now. Just tell me next time,” Eric said.
Lucy was a little anxious when she heard this, “You have time for me? But I’m your mother! Whatever you’re saying sounds like an excuse…”
Chanse knew Lucy well. When she said this, he knew that something was off.
The timing of her call and the request for him to go over to her seemed a lot like a ploy to stall him.
Who could it be to have her stall him?
Could she possibly know Abigail’s whereabouts?
