Chapter 79
Jack walked quickly, with Abigail in his arms. She was terrified, because she felt that it was impossible for Eric to get to her in such a short time.
What could she do?
Would anyone come to her aid if she were to start screaming in the airport?
But this would mean ending everything with Chanse once and for all and alerting him.
Chanse’s phone rang and he picked up the phone.
“I couldn’t stop Eric!” It was Lucy’s voice. “You’ll need to hurry. It’s possible that he knows you’re at the airport and is heading over now.”
“You must hurry and put that woman on the plane. Don’t let her stay in this country and continue wrecking my son’s life!”
Chanse looked over at Jack who was carrying Abigail in his arms. Coldly, he said, “Don’t worry. This time, I’ll definitely be able to get her out of the country.”
Once she was out of the country, everything would be easier to manage.
There were far too many limitations in the country.
Very quickly, Jack had arrived at the boarding gate with Abigail still in his arms.
The other passengers had all lined up, getting their tickets checked.
Jack put her down. Abigail clenched her fists tightly.
Chanse said, “Don’t worry, Abigail. Everything’s been arranged. If it wasn’t for some unfinished work here, I would’ve accompanied you on this trip.
“But you have nothing to worry about. I’ll have Jack go with you. I guess that’s all. You may go ahead.”
Jack immediately grabbed Abigail’s arm and politely said, “Please come with me, Ms. Reed.”
Abigail’s lips trembled with uncertainty, “I, I…”
“Go.” A shadow fell over Chanse’s face. He signaled to Jack to quickly move along and not let her waste more time.
Abigail was practically dragged forward. She had almost tripped, but Jack couldn’t care less.
It was right at this moment when an angry voice came from behind, “Stop right there!”
When Chanse heard the voice, his face turned darker as he turned around. Just as he expected, it was Eric. He was rushing toward them with a group of bodyguards.
“Hurry! Go!” Chanse urged in a deep voice.
Jack wanted to forcefully pull Abigail but she collapsed to the ground.
He panicked. He hurried to pick her up but was quickly pushed aside forcefully.
“Get your hands off her!”
Eric glared at the bodyguard with his piercing eyes as he bent over and scooped Abigail up into his arms.
The familiar scent made Abigail much more relaxed, but her face remained pale.
She held onto Eric’s neck tightly, as though she was terrified of something.
Eric looked at her with a frown. What was wrong with her? Wasn’t it her who had wanted to leave?
Chanse approached them with a sullen face.
“How much longer until you’re done fooling around? Abigail was the one who asked me to send her abroad. She doesn’t even want to stay with you.”
“I saw how she suffered when she was with you. Which was why I decided to make it up to her on your behalf by sending her abroad. If you have any conscience at all, just let her go!”
“You’re trying to make it up to her on my behalf?” It was as if Eric had just heard a joke. “Did I hear you correctly?
“Do you even have it in you to do a good deed?” he continued.
Chanse’s face was grim, “What are you trying to say? Don’t forget that I’m your father!”
“Exactly. You’re my father, but have you ever cared about what’s going on in my life? You’ve never even cared about your son and yet you’re suddenly taking interest in your daughter–in–law?
“It makes me wonder if you have an ulterior motive.
“Don’t ever stick your nose in my business again. And this includes Abigail’s! I won’t forget this.
“If something like this ever happens again, don’t blame me for fighting back!” Eric shot an icy glare at Chanse before leaving with Abigail in his arms.
