Chapter 83
Ryan coldly looked at the bodyguard and roared, “Let go!”
The bodyguard was slightly stunned but didn’t let go at all. “Talk now, or things are going to get ugly!”
“Isn’t it a little too late to say that when I’ve already signed the papers?” Ryan smiled mockingly. “How could Eric leave when his wife is in the middle of an operation? It sure is an eye–opening experience.”
After saving that, he swung the bodyguard’s hand away with a cold face. “You can ask him whether I’m his brother when he returns later! I’ll be waiting right here!” Then, he took a seat at the side.
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment, thinking that he had heard that Eric had an illegitimate brother. However, they had never met before, so the bodyguard couldn’t be sure if Ryan was that person.
Since Ryan had already signed the papers, there was no way the bodyguard could let him go. So, Ryan was allowed to stay there for the moment.
After 20 minutes, the operation had ended. Ryan hurriedly stood up and approached the doctor when the latter came out. “How did it go, doctor?”
The operation this time was performed by a well–known ophthalmologist, and Lenny was just an assistant. When Lenny came out and saw Ryan, he was stunned for a moment before gently nodding at the latter.
“The operation was a success. Although we did have a little hiccup halfway through the procedure, it won’t be an issue now,” said the doctor.
After hearing that, Ryan could finally relax. “That’s great.”
Lenny removed his mask and wanted to say a few words to Ryan. However, with the bodyguard there, Lenny just glanced at Ryan and walked away.
After a while, Abigail was pushed out of the operation room and arranged to be in the VIP ward. The bodyguard watched over her inside the ward and didn’t allow Ryan to go into the room with them.
When Lenny came to check on the ward and saw Ryan standing at the side, he stopped in his tracks for a moment. Then, he entered the ward. When Lenny came out again, Ryan wanted to follow him, but the bodyguard stopped Ryan.
“Hold on. You can’t leave yet!” said the bodyguard coldly. “You can only go when Mr. Gomez has returned!”
Ryan scoffed. “You’re not letting me inside the ward, and you’re not allowing me to leave. So, what do you actually want? If you want me to stay here until your dear Mr. Gomez has returned, then call him right now!”
The bodyguard was speechless. After all, they did call Eric, but they couldn’t reach him at all. No one knew what had happened to him, and the bodyguards didn’t know what to do at that moment.
“Move!” Ryan said coldly.
“Your precious Mrs. Gomez is fine now, isn’t she? If it weren’t for me, she would’ve been dead by now, you ungrateful piece of trash! Eric left just like that, and if something were to happen to her, do you think he would forgive you for it? If you know what’s best for you, you’d better not tell him about this!”
What he said made sense, and the bodyguards stopped being so tense after hearing it. Ryan stopped looking at them and turned to leave. This time, no one dared to stop him again.
Ryan entered Lenny’s office and locked the door from the inside. Then, he asked, “How is she now?”
Lenny looked up at him and said with a subtle smile, “So, she’s the person you like! You sure hid it well. However, she’s Eric’s wife. Do you know what you’re doing?”
“Cut the crap!” Ryan was getting annoyed. “I asked you how she was! Is she awake now?”
“Not yet,” said Lenny. “The anesthetic hasn’t worn off yet. She should be awake in another ten minutes. She’ll be fine. All we need to do is wait for her to recover now.”
“That’s good.” Ryan let out a breath of relief.
He’d met Lenny when they were abroad. Back then, Lenny was still pursuing his medical degree,
