Chapter 86
When Eric heard that, he finally pulled out his phone and realized it was turned off. When he turned it back on, he noticed the battery wasn’t depleted yet. Since it was still charged, why did it turn itself off?
Then, he remembered how he asked about Nicole’s room when he anxiously rushed to the hospital. The policeman on the phone told Eric that Nicole was injured badly, so Eric thought it was really that severe.
However, when Eric finally arrived there, he realized that only her arm was injured, and she also had a mild concussion. Nicole just had to stay at the hospital for a couple of days for some monitoring, and she could be discharged if nothing else was wrong with her.
Back then, Nicole told him that she suddenly couldn’t see anything. She kept grabbing his hand and wouldn’t let him leave at all, saying that she was. terrified. The doctor examined her eyes and didn’t notice anything wrong with them.
After an hour, her eyesight suddenly recovered, and that was when Eric hurriedly rushed back to the hospital Abigail was in. Now that he thought about it, he didn’t understand how Nicole lost her eyesight in the first place.
“So, who was the one who signed the papers? It couldn’t have been you two, right?” Eric asked calmly.
They were planning on hiding it from him at first. However, they couldn’t do it anymore, and they had no choice but to tell Eric the truth. “It was a guy who said he was your brother…”
The bodyguards‘ voices slowly became softer as they spoke under Eric’s intense gaze. When he heard that it was Ryan, he was stunned. He never would’ve expected that Ryan would appear at such a critical moment to sign the operation papers for Abigail!
Meanwhile, Abigail didn’t know how long she had slept. When she woke up, her world was still pitch black. However, she heard Eric’s voice.
“Oh, you’re awake? Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?” he asked.
When she smelled the aroma of some food, she did feel hungry. Then, she felt a spoon by her mouth, and she knew Eric was feeding her something. She avoided him and said coldly, “Get Nancy to feed me.
Eric’s hand froze for a moment before he said, “Nancy’s still at the villa, and it’s too late to call her now. Let me feed you first, and we’ll get her to take care of you tomorrow.”
Abigail hesitated for a moment before she finally compromised and opened her mouth. After all, she still needed to eat something.
After she was done eating, she lay down again. She was acting so cold that she never said a single word to Eric throughout her meal.
Eric couldn’t do anything about it at all, and he still had a lot of work to do. So, after he asked Nancy to take care of Abigail, he started traveling between the company and the hospital nonstop.
Abigail wanted to see Jacinta, so she told Lenny about it when he came to check up on her. He said he would do his best to get Jacinta to visit her.
After Abigail had her lunch, Nancy returned home to prepare dinner for Abigail. After that, the nurse came into the ward. When Abigail heard the door closing, she smelled a familiar scent and figured Jacinta had come.
“Jac?”
“It’s me. I can’t believe you would figure it out right away,” Jacinta said with a smile before going to the bed to hold Abigail’s hand. “How are you feeling? Are your eyes alright? I heard that the operation was a success.”
“I’m great.” Abigail smiled. “We’ll be able to remove the bandages in a week, and I’m currently recovering well.”
“I’m glad to hear that.” Then, Jacinta said with a scoff, “That Eric finally did something decent this time! By the way, what are your plans after this? Eric said he would get a divorce after your eyes had recovered, but what about you? Have you really decided to go along with it?”
Hearing that, Abigail fell silent. She did want a divorce in the past. However, she wasn’t sure at that moment anymore.
