Chapter 89
Eric walked to the couch outside the bathroom and took out his phone. Then, he noticed the message that Nicole had sent him. “Eric, the doctor said I’m fine now, and I’ll be able to return to work tomorrow. I’m sorry for all the inconveniences in the past few days.”
He wanted to reply to her at first, but when he thought about how late it was, he figured it wouldn’t be a good idea to write back to her at that moment. So, he decided to answer her the next day.
After he dealt with some emails, he looked at the time and noticed half an hour had passed. However, Abigail hadn’t come out of the bathroom yet. Worried that something might have happened to her, he got up and knocked on the door.
“Abigail? Are you alright?”
The water inside the bathroom stopped running, and he could hear her voice faintly. “I’m fine… Ouch!”
Suddenly, there was a heavy thud in the bathroom. Eric frowned when he heard that and asked, “What’s wrong? Did you fall? Answer me!”
He frantically knocked on the door, but there was no response. So, he kicked the door open right away and saw Abigail sitting on the ground naked. Seeing her smooth skin, he was stunned for a moment.
“Ah! Don’t come in!” Abigail shrieked as she hurriedly covered her body. “Get out!”
Eric frowned deeper and grabbed a towel to cover her body before picking her up sideways. “It’s not like I’ve never seen your body before, so why do you mind it so much?” he asked angrily. “Why didn’t you answer me when you’ve fallen down? Do you really hate it when I see you like this?”
Abigail blushed brightly as she bit her lip silently.
After he placed her back on the bed, he tucked her under the blanket and checked her leg. “Let me take a look. Did you hurt yourself just now?”
She hurriedly pulled her legs into the blanket and said, “No, I didn’t. Stop looking at me now!”
“Why are you so shy?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. “How are you so certain that you’re not hurt? How do I know if you’re telling me the truth? Just let me take a look at you.”
After saying that, he grabbed her blanket. Since Abigail wasn’t strong enough to keep the blanket on her, her face started turning red in anger. “I’ve already told you I’m fine, Eric!” Her furious voice echoed throughout the ward.
After a long while, Eric placed the blanket over her again, and she buried her head under it like an ostrich. Seeing what she was doing, he just found it amusing.
“Well, it’s good that you’re fine.”
After pausing for a long while, Abigail mumbled, “Bring me my clothes.”
Eric smirked when he saw how she was acting. Then, he went to the bathroom to bring her the clothes. Abigail pulled the clothes into her blanket and could feel that Eric was still standing next to the bed.
“Aren’t you going to take a shower?” she urged. After all, there was no way she could get dressed with him standing right there.
“Well, I’m worried that this might be inconvenient for you,” he answered. “If you don’t mind, I can help you get dressed…”
“There’s no need for that!” She became furious in embarrassment. “Go take a shower now!”
Eric said with a smile, “Alright. I’ll do it now.”
Abigail listened as he walked away. When she heard the bathroom door closing, she finally let out a breath of relief and hurriedly put her clothes on. When Eric came out of the bathroom, she was back on the bed again. As he got on the bed, she didn’t move a muscle at all, and he didn’t know if she had
fallen asleep.
He pondered for a moment before wrapping his arm around her waist. Right after he did that, Abigail frowned and said, “Aren’t you going to sleep?” “Oh, you’re still awake, huh?” he said with a raised eyebrow. “I thought you’d already fallen asleep.”
“Remove your hand now,” she said
