Chapter 95
“hat’s the sh?” Eric said calmly. “Your eyes haven’t fully recovered yet. So, even if I return your phone to you, you won’t be able to use it anyway.
ik about it when you can see again.”
With that, he rejected Abigail’s request right away. She knew nothing she said would have mattered once he had made up his mind, so she decided to drop it.
For the next few days, Nancy almost never let Abigail out of her sight. The bodyguards kept their eyes on her at all times. They were so strict that even Jacinta couldn’t even visit Abigail when she came.
Finally, it was time to remove the bandage around Abigail’s eyes. Eric didn’t go to the company and purposely waited in the ward. Lenny slowly removed the bandages, and when there were only two layers left, Abigail could sense the light in front of her. When she noticed it, she couldn’t help being excited.
When the final layer of bandages was finally removed, the light became stronger and more obvious.
“Don’t open your eyes yet. Since your eyes haven’t seen any light for a long time, you should take some time to get used to it,” said Lenny. After pausing for a moment, he asked, “You can see the light, right?”
“Yes.” Abigail’s voice was trembling slightly when she answered. When Eric heard that she could see the light with her eyes, he stopped worrying.
Meanwhile, Nancy said with a bright smile, “Since you can see the light, that means your eyes have definitely recovered now. That’s great! You can finally see!”
After a while, Lenny said, “Alright. Try opening your eyes slowly now.”
Abigail did as he said and slowly opened her eyes. The light entering her eyes was so bright that it hurt them a little, and she didn’t dare to open her eyes
too much.
At first, her vision was a little blurry. However, it slowly became clearer until she could see the well–defined jawline on Eric’s cold–looking face.
At that moment, he was staring at her as well, and she could see her reflection in his eyes. It was as if she was the only person in his world. However, she knew it was an illusion and thought there was no way she would be in his world.
After they looked into each other’s eyes for a second, she looked away and turned her head to the window. The weather was great that day, and the sun was shining brightly. As the rays hit the glass window, it warmed up the room.
As she saw the lush green trees and deep blue sky, her mood became better. All the negative thoughts that filled her mind recently faded away under the light, and she felt at ease.
“How do you feel?” asked Lenny.
Abigail said with a smile, “Great. I can finally see now, and my vision’s perfect.”
“I’m glad to hear that.” He nodded and took out a flashlight. “Please allow me to examine your eyes for a while.”
Abigail turned to him with her eyes closed. Then, he lifted up her eyelids and shone the light at her eyes a little before saying, “It looks like there are no more problems now, and the operation was a success. If you have any discomfort, feel free to drop by the hospital again.”
“Sure. Thank you,” Abigail said with a nod. Since her eyes had recovered, she could finally get out of the hospital.
As Nancy helped pack everything up, she said happily, “I’ve just called Mr. Gomez Senior and told him the good news. He was over the moon, and he invited you two back to the Gomez residence to have dinner together.”
Abigail nodded. “Alright, Nancy.”
After they had packed everything up, Eric looked at Abigail and said, “Let’s go.”
When she arrived next to him, he swiftly reached out to grab her hand. Abigail frowned and wanted to get out of his grip. However, she thought of something else and endured it. Eric just glanced at her before pulling her into the elevator.
While they were on the way back to the Gomez residence, they didn’t say a single word at all. It was so quiet in the car that it felt suffocating.
Nancy couldn’t take it anymore and broke the silence. “Mrs. Gomez, Mr. Gomez didn’t even go to the company because he wanted to be with you when you were discharged!”
