Chapter 2
Grace and Antonio had known each other since childhood. When they were fifteen, their two families agreed upon an arranged marriage for them.
She didn’t hate Antonio; instead, after knowing he’d be her husband, she started to have feelings for him.
When they were eighteen, he used the pocket money he had saved for more than a decade to set off fireworks that lit up the whole city just for her.
Under the sky, illuminated by the fireworks, he looked at her affectionately. “Happy birthday, Grace. You’re officially a grown–up and my fiancée now.”
It was the first time Antonio held her in his arms as her fiancé. Her heart was pounding so fast that she felt it might explode at any second.
Before Celeste showed up, he had always been very nice to her, fulfilling whatever she wanted.
But everything she used to have sank into the darkness just like the fireworks that night.
Grace’s eyes were filled with tears. It was always like this–she was hurt by him and healed herself again and again, and she was exhausted.
She tried her best not to let her tears fall. “Antonio, in case you forget, I’m your wife.”

Antonio pinched her chin, the disgust for her on his face
obvious.
“My wife? You’re so vicious. You don’t deserve to be my wife.”
Grace didn’t remember how she walked out of Celeste’s place.
She sat in the car alone, feeling cold all over.
They had been married for five years, and for those five years, she had watched Antonio dote on Celeste.
She was his wife, but she didn’t even have the right to question him.
Whenever she showed the slightest dissatisfaction, he’d insult her, hurting her with the harshest words.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Celeste.
She didn’t want to take the call at all, but she had to.
“Grace, I wanna go shopping later. Why don’t you join me?” Celeste’s tone was very much like when they were besties.
“Let’s go.” Celeste fastened her seatbelt, looking in a good mood.
To say that she was shopping with Celeste wasn’t accurate; she was, in fact, just here to take Celeste’s bags for her.
Celeste bought whatever she saw, paying with Antonio’s card.
In less than half an hour, Grace was already holding more than a dozen bags.

Celeste smiled, looking smug. “Grace, you owe me this.

“You gotta spend the rest of your life waiting on me to repay me.”
Grace clutched the bags, finding every breath she took hurtful.
After her 18th birthday, she went to college and met Celeste.
Back then, Celeste was her roommate. Though Celeste came from a poor family, she studied hard.
Grace felt pity for her and would give her some clothes or cosmetics from time to time.
Soon, they became close friends who shared everything with each other.
Back then, Antonio was in another college in the same city, and he’d visit Grace whenever he was free.
She always took Celeste with her.
On the day of the graduation ceremony, Celeste came to her with a pregnancy test stick.
Celeste said, her eyes red, “Grace, I’m pregnant with Antonio’s baby. Can I be with him?”
Grace and Antonio’s families planned to have them get married as soon as they graduated.
Hearing Celeste’s words, Grace was slack–jawed. Her first reaction was Celeste was out of her mind. “What are you talking about? How could Antonio have a baby with you?”

She didn’t want to waste her time on Celeste’s lie, and of course, she didn’t believe Antonio would betray her.

However, after she turned around and took a few steps, she heard Celeste’s exclamation.
As she turned around, she saw Celeste rolling down the steps. The blood oozing out from Celeste’s lower body stung her
eyes.
Antonio rushed over frantically and held Celeste in his arms. “Celeste!”
He shouted her name in pain, sounding very much like calling out to his injured beloved.
Celeste’s pale face was pitiful. “Antonio, I just wanted to say sorry to Grace. I was gonna have an abortion tomorrow. The last thing I wanted was to delay your wedding.
“But… she wouldn’t wait even one day? Why did she have to use this way to kill our baby?
“I thought she was my bestie. Why? How could she do this?”
Antonio glared at Grace, the burning anger in his eyes making her heart ache.
“Grace, I fell in love with Celeste and got her pregnant. If you’re upset, take it out on me. How could you kill our baby? Why would you hurt her like this?”
