Chapter 5
Antonio’s words immediately caused uproar.
All the cameras turned to Grace.
“Mrs. Kaufman, is it true? You cheated on Mr. Kaufman first?”
“Did you feel more excited having an affair in your bed with Mr. Kaufman?”
“You cheated on Mr. Kaufman first, so you chose to cover for him, right?”
Grace could barely keep her eyes open when facing the flashing lights. She turned to look at Antonio in great disbelief, only to see a trace of provocation in his eyes.
It turned out he wanted her to call this press conference because he’d label her as the cheating wife in front of all those reporters.
Now everyone regarded her as a tramp, who cheated on her husband and even had an affair in their bed.
On the contrary, Antonio became the victim, the desperate husband who chose another woman after being betrayed by
his wife.
The press conference for clarification was forced to be suspended.
Grace asked, her voice trembling, “Why would you do this, Antonio?”

She had been hurt by him again and again, yet she still
cleaned up his messes, doing her best to stabilize his position in the company.
He looked at her, his gaze icy. “You arranged for those reporters to photograph me and Celeste, right? Since you wanted to make it public, I might as well make sure your reputation gets totally ruined.”
The hatred in his eyes sent a chill down her spine. “Did Celeste tell you I arranged for the reporters?”
He said, “You threatened Celeste to stay away from me. If she didn’t comply, you’d expose our relationship.
“I knew everything, Grace. Just admit what you did. Being a coward only makes me despise you more.”
Grace thought, “Of course, Antonio always listens to Celeste’s side of the story.
“He doesn’t care about the truth at all and blindly believes whatever Celeste feeds him. It doesn’t matter whether I did it
or not.
“In his eyes, I’m a wicked woman.”
Tears welled up in her eyes. “Antonio, how long are you gonna torment me?”
Pinching her chin, he said through gritted teeth, “Till the day you die. You’ll spend the rest of your entire life atoning for my innocent baby.”
The press conference left Grace sidelined.
To minimize the losses, the board suspended her.

She spent her time playing with her cat and tending to flowers, figuring staying at home was actually acceptable.
One day, Antonio, who rarely came home, came back out of the blue.
He frowned at the sight of her.
“Where did you get those earrings?”
She replied nonchalantly, “I bought them a few days ago.”
He strode to her and yanked those new earrings away.
“I bought Celeste the same pair, and you gotta wear the same ones? You’re set to disgust me, aren’t you, Grace?
“You don’t deserve to wear the same jewelry as Celeste at all.”
His movements caused great pain, and Grace was on the verge of bursting into tears.
She touched her earlobes and felt blood.
The earrings which she had just bought were tossed by him to the floor like trash.
Somehow, Grace felt as if she were those despised earrings.
Amidst great heartache, she said slowly, “Antonio, does Celeste mean that much to you?”
His answer was firm and decisive. “Yes. She’s the beloved of my life.”
The beloved of his life.

“It’s been five years, Antonio. I’m your wife, but you never come home. I’m sick of tolerating your affair and covering for
you.
“You love her so much, right, Antonio? Fine. I want a divorce. Then you can marry her and live together happily forever!”
