Chapter 6
Antonio and Anna were taken away and locked up for five days. I requested them to apologize to me in public before I decided if I wanted. to press charges.
But Anna wouldn’t budge on the apology. Instead, she leveraged her fame as a photographer and put up a post online.
She said I had pushed her over the edge into depression.
She threw in a depression diagnosis and a picture of a nasty scratch on her arm.
With her usual upbeat persona and engaging writing, she made me out to be the bad woman, the one forcing her to her end.
Since some of them had media contacts, my social media got shut down. in no time.
The videos disappeared, and once my account was gone, people automatically thought I was the one lying and they took Anna’s side.
This led to whispers and gossip every time someone recognized me at the hospital.
Some people even got physical, bumping into me while I was holding my baby.
“Bitch! You can’t keep your man in check, so you’re out here messing with others? Why don’t you take a look at yourself in the mirror?”
someone sneered.
“Exactly! Anna is into your husband. You should be thrilled,” another chimed in.

“Anna and Dr. Kaufman are meant for each other. You should just step aside and divorce him,” someone else added.
As I stooped to grab the stuff that got knocked over, someone deliberately stomped on my hand.
She kicked my medical records aside. Even when my baby was crying, she pointed at me, saying, “You can’t even take good care of the baby. Why are you so petty?”
The woman who was stomping on my hand sneered, “I thought I was stepping on some trash.”
I felt like everyone was whispering about me.
I had just gotten up when someone grabbed me, keeping me from falling.
“Why did you get so weak? You weren’t like this a couple of days ago, What happened?”
Kyler, with his intern in tow, was on the job when he saw me about to fall and rushed to my side.
Just then, someone whipped out their phone and started recording us.
I stepped in front of Kyler and pointed at the phone. “Stop recording!”
“You’re hooking up with a guy. Can’t I record it? I’ll post it online so everyone can see h everyone can see how low you are.
how low you are. Forcing Anna to the corner while
you’re with some guy.”
Kyler tried to step in, but I stopped him.
“Are you going to let them keep causing a fuss?
“If this keeps up, you won’t be able to explain yourself out of it.”
I didn’t feel like explaining. The internet twisted things. I just wanted to
handle these people fast and make sure there was no wiggle room.
So I stopped Kyler. I told him that I had my own plan and he didn’t need
to worry.
Kyler just looked at me and said, “Hit me up if you need anything.”
I nodded and walked out of the hospital with the baby in my arms, only to see Antonio holding Anna’s hand coming my way.
Anna was chatting excitedly to Antonio, “If this IVF works out, I’ll have a baby of my own. I won’t have to deal with marriage or men. I can just be an awesome photographer.”
Antonio glanced at Anna, looking a little guilty. “I’m really sorry about what Grace did to you, causing you to lose so much business,” he said. “Don’t worry. I’ll make it up to you. I will make her apologize to you.”
Anna shook her head.
“Antonio, we are friends. You know I’ve never held it against her. She doesn’t get how deep our friendship is, and that’s fine. I’m not expecting her to get it. All that counts is that you know I do everything for our friendship.”
Antonio nodded.
He gave her a hug, looking relieved.
“You’re the only one in the whole world who really gets me,” said
Antonio.
“Antonio, I’ll always understand you better than Grace, and I love you. more. I’m your best friend who loves you the most,” said Anna.
After they finished talking, I felt kind of grossed out.
But Antonio actually started crying.
“What if we had been together back then? Maybe we wouldn’t have gone through all this.”
Anna smiled when she heard this, “If we had been together and then split, we probably wouldn’t have stayed in touch. It’s different now. Now we’ll always be there for each other.”
