“We ran into her earlier. She tried to scam us,
so Garrison gave her a grand to go away.”
“But she followed us here, sneaking around! She’s up to no good!”
“I was worried about Garrison and the Finleys, so I told her to leave. Then she slapped me…”
Garrison and Susan were trying to get rid of me before my parents could find out about the car.
As Susan tried to chase me off, Garrison smiled at my parents. “Mr. and Mrs. Finley, let’s go inside and wait for Patty. My assistant can handle this.”
My parents were furious.
Before they could speak, a car screeched to a
halt in front of the house.
<
Garrison’s dad, Mr. Garrison, jumped out of the
car.
He saw Susan swinging the bat and yelled,
“You stupid bitch! Stop!”
Before she could react, he charged at her like a
bull and kicked her in the stomach.
Susan screamed and collapsed.
He snatched the bat from her and started beating her with it.
Garrison panicked. He tried to pull his dad away, shouting, “Dad, stop! You’re crazy!”
Mr. Garrison turned, his eyes blazing, and slapped his son across the face. “Get out of my
sight! I don’t want to see you again!”
Garrison was stunned. He looked at his dad in
disbelief.
<
All his life, Garrison had been the golden boy.
This was the first time his dad had ever hit him.
But Mr. Garrison didn’t care about his son’s feelings right now.
He forced a smile at my parents. “Mr. and Mrs. Finley, I’m so sorry. I failed as a father. Please, forgive him…”
My dad cut him off. “Don’t talk to us. Talk to our daughter!”
My mom snapped, “Your son and his secretary attacked our daughter in front of our house, then lied about it! This isn’t going to be easy to forget!”
Garrison and Susan froze, staring at me.
Mr. Garrison turned to me, pleading. “Ms. Finley, it’s all my fault. Please, have mercy…”
