Chapter 12 A Late–Night Call
With patience, Guadalupe waited for Belinda to finish.
Then, Guadalupe looked down at her with cold eyes. “Why do you feel so good about yourself? Because you are stupid and lost to me in chess, you took the man I had dumped, or you got the job I don’t want?
“Besides, you and I are not in the same circle.
“You fool around every day. I don’t want to get into a circle full of bitches and bastards. You and Desmond can have each other.”
Despite Guadalupe’s tone, her words were malicious.
Belinda was short–tempered, so she was pissed off, her face twisted.
Before Guadalupe finished her words, Belinda roared, “Shut up! I’ll rip your lips! I’ll kill you!”
In the end, Belinda even jumped up and rushed to Guadalupe to slap her.
Guadalupe didn’t move. When Belinda got close, Guadalupe threw the files at her face and broke her nose.
“I’m done here. I’ll be watching how you destroy Zenith Group.”
Then, Guadalupe headed out.
“Guadalupe, I won’t let you off!” Belinda screamed deafeningly while covering her nose.
No one in the Project Department dared to get close.
A while after Guadalupe got out of the office, they went to her carefully
to show their concerns.
Breanna Novak, the leader of Team Three, got into the office under pressure, took Guadalupe’s stuff from the waste basket, and cleaned them.. “Ms. Melton. I’ll help you take these down.”
Guadalupe felt warm, tears stinging her eyes.
She was at her darkest in life, but there was still light.
“OK,” she agreed with a smile.
The employees in the Project Department walked Guadalupe to the elevator, and Breanna walked her downstairs.
Before Guadalupe left, she said to Breanna, “Tell everyone to do their jobs and not to get into hassles with that princess. When she feels bored, she may leave. Besides, if she botches a project, tell Desmond, or she can pass the buck to you. It can involve billions of dollars, and you can’t afford the consequences. When Desmond knows it’s her fault, he will deal with it himself.”
Breanna nodded. “I’ll tell that to everyone.”
Guadalupe moved over to hug her. “Keep in touch.”
When Guadalupe drove away, it began raining, which created at sentimental mood.
There were 10 days left.
It would be soon.
After Guadalupe left, Belinda went upstairs to complain.
Her eldest brother Caleb was there too. Seeing her swollen nose, he was
confused. “What’s wrong with your nose?”
Chapter 12 A Late Night Cal
Belinda sat between Caleb and Desmond with tears. “I made coffee for her and let her sit in my chair. But she began humiliating me when she got in. She called me shameless. She even called Desmond…a bastard.
“I wanted to ask her something about work, so I didn’t dare to talk back. Then, she even beat me. She threw files at my face and pressed me against the ground to hit me.”
Belinda told the story with exaggeration.
Desmond was wearing a grim face the whole time.
Caleb snarled in disbelief, “Is she insane? It’s outrageous! Desmond, how are you gonna deal with it?“.
Desmond answered, “I apologize to Linda on her behalf. She’s been in a bad mood lately.”

“That’s it?”
In her imagination, Desmond would call Guadalupe over to account for what she had done. But that didn’t happen. So Belinda got angrier. “I don’t want your apology. I want her to kneel and apologize to me, and I want to hit her back.”
Desmond’s face darkened. “It’s impossible.”
Caleb was irritated. “Why? She has to pay the price. If you let her get away with it, we will resort to the law.”
Desmond clenched his hands and thought for a while, saying, “Then I’m sorry that we’ll stop cooperation and be in litigation with each other.”
Caleb and Belinda were astounded.
Caleb asked, “You…you care about her so much?”
Desmond leaned back and answered with certainty, “She’s mine, and I’ll protect her.”
Belinda shook with rage, thinking, “Desmond, you’re happy when you are
with me, and you barely go home. Since you don’t love Guadalupe anymore, why do you still care about her?”
Knowing that Guadalupe was more important than her in Desmond’s heart, Belinda wanted to kill Guadalupe.
But now, Belinda was afraid of losing Desmond, so she softened her tone. “Never mind. Guadalupe did those things only out of jealousy. I don’t really want her to kneel before me. It was a joke. Don’t be mad.”
Caleb didn’t see it coming.
He thought, “You’re a Graham, while Guadalupe is a nobody. Why did you give in? You embarrassed me!”
Then, Belinda added in a pitiful voice. “But Desmond, you need to make it up to me.”
Desmond revealed a gentle look. “Of course.”
Belinda left bearing grievances.
Right after Guadalupe arrived home, she got Roselyn’s call.
“Honey, Mr. Pierce of Cliffdew Group and Ezequiel will go play golf tomorrow afternoon. I told Mr. Pierce that I’d bring someone with me. You know what to do.”
“You are the best.” Guadalupe made a kiss sound.
“Oh boy, I have goosebumps. I’ll see
you tomorrow.”
“See you.”
The good news gave Guadalupe a good appetite, so she had a lot at dinner
At midnight, she took a walk at the home gym.
About 20 minutes later, her phone rang. It was Desmond.
Again, he didn’t come home.
She was used to it. But why was he calling her at this time?
Guadalupe answered it with hesitation.
A woman’s and a man’s groans came through the phone. Then, a woman shouted with pleasure, “Desmond, I’m coming. You are great. I love it.
“Deeper, deeper….
“Oh yeah…”
It was disgusting.
Guadalupe was already feeling bloated, so she bent over and threw up.
Meanwhile, her phone dropped to the ground, and the screen was shattered
She vomited up all that was in her stomach but still kept retching.
She didn’t know how she got back to her room.
In bed, she thought she would be in great pain and unable to sleep.
But she didn’t get as emotional as she had thought. With her eyes open. she listened to her slow heartbeat in the quietness.
Time slipped away.

At one moment, she closed her eyes and fell asleep right away.
It was dawn when she woke up.
She washed. Then, she cleaned up the gym, had breakfast, and bought a new phone.
In the afternoon, she went to Moonstone Golf Club as planned.
