Hearing no response from Guadalupe, Elyse coughed lightly and said, “Come at seven tonight, or the compensation stays 150 million dollars.”
Without waiting for Guadalupe’s reply, Elyse hung up the phone directly.
Guadalupe put down her phone and stared at the screen, losing in thoughts.
She thought of Taniyah’s reminder, thinking, “So Elyse’s really gonna do something to me?”
Guadalupe had never got along well with Elyse. At first, Elyse looked down at Guadalupe for her poor family background. Later, Elyse tried many times to stop Guadalupe’s relationship with Desmond. After Guadalupe married Desmond, Elyse didn’t allow her to live in the Harrison’s house. Elyse would also make sarcastic remarks towards Guadalupe when they had meals together during festivals and holidays.
But that was all Elyse did.
This time, apart from signing the new agreement, Elyse probably also wanted to warn Guadalupe not to change her mind at the last minute.

Guadalupe put on simple makeup, changed into new clothes, and went to her parents‘ house first.
That day, she met Desmond outside Primrose Heights, which made her aware that she might have been followed. These days, she saw some suspicious vehicles outside the villa, which confirmed her suspicion.
Not long after she drove out, Desmond called her, asking, “Taking a nap?”
Guadalupe snorted coldly in her heart, “What a trap.”
She replied calmly, “I’m driving to my parents‘ place.”

As she spoke, she glanced at the suit on the front passenger’s
seat.
Seeing that she didn’t lie to him, Desmond hung up the phone. But then, he had his man keep following her to her parents‘ place.
Soon, Guadalupe arrived at her parents‘ house.
The two of them were college professors, but they had already retired. When Guadalupe got there, her father wasn’t at home. Her mother, Makena Brandt, was quite surprised when she saw Guadalupe. “You don’t work today?”
“I asked for a leave. Caught a little cold.” Guadalupe touched her nose and coughed a few times, pretending to be sick.

After getting into the elevator, she put on a mask and a hat. Then, she left under the watcher’s nose.
Guadalupe arrived at Serendipity Hotel before seven.
This hotel looked very classic from the outside. But inside, it was understated yet luxurious.
Guadalupe first deposited the suit at the front desk and then called Elyse to tell her that she had arrived.
Soon, someone came over to lead her the way. After taking many turns, they arrived at a room.
That person opened the door for Guadalupe, and Guadalupe
went in.
It was a tea room filled with the intertwined fragrance of tea and jasmine flowers.
Elyse was wearing a dark green dress, sitting there with grace and nobility.
“Have a seat.” She slightly raised her head.
“You told me there was an agreement to sign. So where is it?” Guadalupe got straight to the point, not wanting to waste her time here with Elyse.
“No rush. Have some tea and take our time.”
Seeing this situation, Guadalupe raised her eyebrows in suspicion.

They were just some terms about compensation. One page was enough for it, but Elyse made more than ten pages with a lot of crap in it. Maybe she just wanted to make Guadalupe lose patience in reading it.
After reading the agreement, Guadalupe put it down and said, “I need to discuss this agreement with my lawyer. ill. get back to you tomorrow at noon.”
But Elyse refused, saying, “Just tell me what changes you wanna make. I can help you.”
“I can make whatever changes I want about this agreement? How about letting me draft another one?”

“No. It must be this agreement.” Elyse’s face turned cold.
Guadalupe leisurely leaned back, asking, “Didn’t you say I can make some changes about it? Why are you saying it must be this agreement? What do you mean?”
Elyse replied bluntly, “It means you must sign it today.”
Guadalupe didn’t get angry about it.
She just pretended to think about it for a moment and then said, “How about this? I’ll make a phone call to my lawyer. If she says it’s alright, then I’ll sign it.”
With that, Guadalupe got up from the seat, took the agreement, and went out.
As soon as she walked out of the door, she strode away without looking back.
Somehow, those ten–page terms gave her a bad feeling. For example, one of the terms said that if one party had an improper relationship with another individual of the opposite sex before divorce, the agreement would be automatically invalidated.
There seemed to be no problem with this term, and
Guadalupe wasn’t engaged in some improper relationship with another man.
However, there might be a chance that someone would frame her.
She thought she had really underestimated Elyse’s shamelessness.
