Chapter 25 Testify
Ezequiel turned his head, looked down, and softly asked Guadalupe, “I heard someone questioning your innocence. I jumped in without asking you first. Did I make things tough for you?”
Guadalupe was flattered by Ezequiel’s care. She calmed down and said, “Mr. Hodge, sorry to bother you.”
“Do you want me to explain for you?”
“Yes, please.”
She held her breath.
Ezequiel was already here. If she refused his help, she’d seem ungrateful.
All the socialites present were smitten. Ezequiel looked handsome and was so gentle and polite. The way he lowered his eyes and spoke softly was truly captivating.
Ezequiel faced the crowd and said, “Last night, I saved Ms. Melton.
“I was chatting with my client at that hotel. Before leaving, I saw Ms. Melton in the corridor, looking faint. The person holding her seemed suspicious, so I asked the hotel staff to look into it. Later, the hotel staff arrived in time, and we saved her. She wasn’t hurt.”
He explained the process clearly, clearing up the confusing and misleading parts.

This way, he not only stood as the witness but also stopped those with bad intentions from spreading baseless rumors.
Guadalupe was impressed by his thoughtfulness.
She thought, “Yet such a thoughtful man… How could he idly stroll around here and get himself into trouble?
“Well…
“Was I so pitiful that Ezequiel felt sorry for me?”
She was filled with wonder in her heart and her eyes kept stealing glances at him. This upward–directed gaze was noticed by Desmond.
Desmond clenched his fist secretly.
The other people remained silent. Belinda wanted to speak again, but Brielle covered her mouth.
The guests nodded, showing they believed Ezequiel’s words.
Ezequiel came personally to testify for Guadalupe. Nothing could be more convincing.
Even if Guadalupe had really slept with eight men and the evidence was definite, they would still believe what Ezequiel had said.
Whoever disagreed with Ezequiel would be Ezequiel’s enemy.
However, since Ezequiel said that, it proved that nothing happened to Guadalupe. Otherwise, even if Guadalupe was pitiable, Ezequiel might not be stupid enough to back an easy woman up.

“Thank you for saving my wife!”
Desmond reached out to put his arm around Guadalupe’s shoulders as if telling Ezequiel Guadalupe was his wife.

Before Ezequiel could respond, Guadalupe coldly pushed his hand away. “Desmond, you’re not qualified to thank him! Besides, I’m serious about the divorce. You’ve already signed the divorce agreement, and the final decision deadline is tomorrow noon!”
Desmond felt as if a bomb had gone off in his mind and heart. His voice was panicked as he asked, “You seriously want to divorce me?”
He didn’t believe it.
Guadalupe had once loved him deeply, so he was certain that she wouldn’t abandon him. He believed that she was merely furious and needed an outlet to vent her emotions.
But Guadalupe’s eyes were as cold as ice.
She checked the time and said, “The police will be here soon. Instead of worrying about the divorce, you should be concerned about Bel and your mother first. And of course, you’re not off the hook. Belinda said last night that you were part of this.”
Desmond‘ almost couldn’t stand it. “You think I’d do this to you? I’d never hurt you!”
Guadalupe stared at him silently.
She then suddenly laughed. “Never hurt me? How dare you say that?
“Do you think I just found out about your affair with Belinda?
“I’ve known for a long time. Every date you had, every hotel room you checked into, every vacation…
“Do you know what it’s like when a knife keeps stabbing your heart, but you don’t die and just keep getting tortured? What did I do wrong? Why do you cheat on me?”
Her voice was gentle, yet each word she uttered seemed filled with such pain.
Desmond felt short of breath.
Each word she spoke was like a needle stabbing his heart. He was filled with regret. He’d been so stupid. He didn’t want a divorce. He couldn’t live without her!
While they were talking, Ezequiel had turned his back.
Whether on purpose or not, he shielded Guadalupe. So others could only hear her voice faintly and not see her expression.
A group of police officers in uniform came in.
They approached, took out an arrest warrant, and took Belinda, Elyse, and Desmond away.
As Belinda was being taken away, she wailed, but the Graham family could do nothing to stop it.
There were both witnesses and evidence.
And Ezequiel showed up to firmly support Guadalupe.
All they could do was find a good lawyer as soon as possible.

The main characters in this drama were taken away by the police. The onlookers enjoyed a wonderful show.
Probably, in the next week, the rich people in Freyburgh would talk about tonight’s drama. And those who didn’t come would regret missing such a good show.
Soon, the people in the banquet hall left.
Ezequiel left first with Gilbert.
Guadalupe waited until Ezequiel was gone before she left.
She didn’t hail a taxi right away. Instead, she walked to the park behind the hotel and leaned weakly against a tree.
The ground lamp emitted a dim light. She was dressed in a red dress, looking like a beautiful specter that had just exacted revenge.
In fact, she had already figured out clearly who the mastermind and accomplices were.
She knew that Desmond wasn’t really involved and that Elyse had just collaborated with Belinda to lure her to the hotel. But when she called the police, she deliberately didn’t mention this. She wanted them all to be arrested and interrogated.
She hated Desmond, and he deserved what was coming to
him!
There were sounds of footsteps.
As the footsteps drew nearer, a pleasant scent of fine wood filled the air.

The hazy, gauzy light shone on him from the grass, half- lighting his profile and emphasizing the lines of his face. His downcast eyes were calm, showing no emotion. His figure, in the night, seemed even taller, giving off a strong sense of oppression.
“You should be happy that you’ve avenged yourself. Why are you hiding here, lost in thought?”
“I’m exhausted.”
She wanted to ask him why he tailed her.
But she didn’t have the courage to say it.
Ezequiel was silent for a few seconds before suggesting, “Why don’t you go back and get some rest?”
As soon as he said that, Guadalupe stood up right away. “You’re right. I’ll head back immediately. Goodbye, Mr. Hodge!”
She took a few steps in her high heels, then turned around and added, “Thanks for your help today!”
Ezequiel didn’t know what to say.
Guadalupe took a taxi back to her new home.
She didn’t drive. Instead, she entered through the lobby on the first floor and took the elevator.
As soon as the elevator door opened, she was stunned.
Ezequiel was standing inside.

Guadalupe forced herself to step in. She pressed the fingerprint lock, then looked up and smiled at him. She began an awkward chat, “Mr. Hodge, you must be tired as well.”
“Yes. I’m back to get some sleep.”
“Me too.”
“So?” Ezequiel tilted his face, his expression cool.
Guadalupe was at a loss for words because of this.
She thought, “What? Why is there a ‘so‘ in this conversation?”
