Chapter 18
Antonio sent Grace the message and stood in situ, waiting for her reply for a long time.
But his phone still didn’t buzz.
His expression grew darker.
Meanwhile, Naomi walked out of the storage room. Sensing the tense atmosphere, she couldn’t help but grip Grace’s diary and medical reports tightly.
She merely skimmed through the reports, but they were shocking enough.
How come Grace was in such poor health? How come she only had one. kidney?
As she recalled Grace’s behavior over the years, she felt the need to verify the authenticity of these reports.
She didn’t show anyone else the diary and the medical reports.
Instead, she called her trusted assistant over and asked him to secretly look into what had happened to Grace during her seven years in prison.
“Antonio, what are you waiting for? Aren’t you here to pick me up to get married?”
Finally, it was Kyla who broke the suffocating silence.
She walked over to Antonio and linked arms with him.
“Grace is gone. So what? She’s a grown–up already. She’ll be perfectly fine being alone out there.
Hearing this, both Naomi and Samuel frowned.
Clearly. Kyla didn’t give a damn about Grace at all.
Antonio said coldly. “Skip all the unnecessary parts, including finding the wedding shoes. It’s just a wedding in name only. Kyla, you said you just wanna walk into the church with me while wearing a wedding dress, right? Let’s go now.”
“Antonio!” Kyla stomped her foot.
But Antonio simply pulled his arm away and walked out of the villa.
They went to the church.

Since it was a wedding in Antonio didn’t invite any guests.
Other than the Parrish family and the priest, there was no one present.
“This isn’t what I imagined at all!”
Kyla finally lost it when she saw the pathetic wedding scene.
She burst into tears, snapping, “Antonio, so what if Grace is gone? You have me, right? I’m way better than her, she’s so rude and willful. Besides, she went to jail. She’s not good enough for you at all.”
Antonio was a bit impatient; also, he was overwhelmed with anxiety since. Grace was nowhere to be seen.
“Kyla, the only reason why I agreed to marry you is because you jumped off the roof and threatened to top yourself. I’ve done my part, and your wish is fulfilled. It’s time for me to go find Grace now.”
Antonio looked at Kyla. “In case you’ve forgotten, Grace took the blame for you. That’s why she went to jail.”
Everyone present was stunned.
Antonio actually brought this up at such a moment.
Hearing this, Kyla pulled out a knife from somewhere and held it against
her neck.
“I don’t care! Antonio, how is Grace better than me? Why do you love her and not me? Have you forgotten? When you were injured that day, I saved your life! I gave you one of my kidneys!”
Aileen was terrified.
She hurriedly strode forward to take the knife. “Kyla, calm down. I’m here. I’ll talk to Antonio, OK?”
“Don’t come any closer!”
Kyla swung the knife, cutting Aileen’s arm.
Kyla murmured, “Mom, I just wanna be with Antonio. Why? Why can’t I?
“I blame Grace. It’s all her fault! She should die! She deserves to die!”
Her hysterical curses echoed through the church, which turned chaotic at

The farce ended with the arrival of police cars and ambulances at the church.
To grab the knife, Antonio was hurt, too.
He was sitting in the ambulance as the medical staff bandaged his wound.

He kept calling Grace and sent her messages on WhatsApp as if he was numb to the pain.
“Grace, the wedding is over. Where are you?
“Don’t be mad. Tell me where you are, and I’ll come to you, OK?”
“I did what I did because Kyla is your sister. It’s the same as helping you. right?”
“All I want is to make your life with your family easier. I wanna help you win Aileen and Samuel’s favor.
He sent her countless messages, but she didn’t reply to any of them.
Meanwhile. Aileen was at the hospital.
Ignoring the wound on her arm, she said to the doctor. “Kyla has depression and only has one kidney. She’s already suffered so much. Please be gentle when stitching her wound. She’s so afraid of pain.”
Seeing that Aileen was so worried, a nurse tagging along stopped in her tracks and took off her mask.
“Ma’am, I understand that you must be very worried since you’re her mom. But we’ve already given her a simple check–up.
“She’s in good health. And she has both of her kidneys. She’ll be fine.”
