Chapter 2
I wiped the tears off and strode into the room.
Antonio immediately got off Stella and explained nervously, “Stella tripped and fell.”
I glanced at him and said indifferently. “Then she can leave now.”
Looking at an anxious Antonio, I suddenly remembered how much I cried for him in my previous life.
In this life, instead of giving me a cold shoulder, Antonio offered.
“Grace, let’s dine out tonight.”

“Don’t bother. I’m not hungry.”
“But you always wanna have dinner outside with me. Today, I happen…”
“I said I wasn’t hungry. What’s so hard to understand?”
Antonio was taken aback and opened his mouth.
He was cut off when Stella sat up in bed and stared at me with a pitiful
look.
“Grace, are you jealous again? Antonio was just trying to help me get up.”
The room was in a terrible mess. A broken bracelet was in the dumpster.
“Grace, I wanna buy a bracelet. When I saw this one on your desk, I thought I could try it on. I took it off and…”
Dad gave me the bracelet for my 18th birthday. He had the bracelet
custom–made when he married Mom. Dad wished me to be happy when he gave it to me.
After Dad passed away, I carefully kept the bracelet in the bottom of my drawer.
I couldn’t help but clench my fists again.
Antonio noticed and scolded, “Grace, I let Stella try it on. You’re her
sis…”
Clenching my teeth, I waved nonchalantly.
“I can let it go as she didn’t mean it.”
I turned and walked into the house, not caring about the two behind me.

In my previous life, I had the bed the sheet and my broken bracelet too.
But I wasn’t brave enough to say anything and could only endure the agony in my room alone. It caused me depression.
This time, they were gonna pay for it eventually.
I opened the acceptant letter from the National Academy of Arts and didn’t know what to feel at the moment.
Since I was little, my art teacher praised me as a fast learner. I won national awards and Dad had tried his best to help me study art.
But in Antonio’s opinion, drawing was a waste of time. Because of his demand, I became a housewife.
I thought it would please him. Yet, in the end, all I got was a tragic death.
This time. I’d do the opposite. I was picking a path of my own.
School started on 6, September. Soon, I’d be able to leave Antonio.
But before that, I must take care of a few things.
There were three knocks on the door.
I opened the door. Antonio stood in front of me with a new bracelet.
“Grace, I got another bracelet for you. Try it on.”
The bracelet looked cheap like a plastic one.
“Save it. I don’t wanna wear a fake.”
“What?
“But you always buy cheap things.”
I was frugal in my last life. I worked part–time at night. Occasionally, I’d see clothes I liked, but I’d only buy knock–offs of them.
I never thought Antonio took it as I was a person who liked cheap things.
I was going to college and had to cover the expenses myself.
So, I needed to be very careful with my money.
“Antonio, did you take $800 the day we went to the city hall?”
“N–No…”
“Where’s my money on the bedside table?”
Chapter 2
“I spent it on wedding stuff.”
Antonio stuttered and looked around guiltily.

“I never saw that stuff. Where did you put it? Show me the nice things you bought for our wedding.”
My snide remarks enraged Antonio.
“I bought Stella a coat too. OK? We’re family.
“I’ll give you back the money, alright? You’re so petty.”
“I worked hard and saved the money for our wedding. Why can’t I ask about it?”
Antonio lost his patience and stormed out.
“You’re just jealous of Stella. I’ve bought you things. I contributed to this relationship too.”
