Chapter 23
As Antonio listened to Naomi’s words, his heart arched so much.
How he wished that time could turn back, that he could go back seven years and prevent all of this from happening.
But there were no “ifs“.
What was donewas done. He couldn’t undo what he did or make up for the harm he caused Grace.
Suddenly, a crisp sound rang out.
Kyla covered her check, looking at Samuel in great disbelief.
Samuel looked back at her, his face stern, his eyes filled with disappointment.
Overwhelmed by mixed emotions, he actually wanted to punish her much more severely. A slap was far from enough.
“Dad…”
He looked at Kyla calmly, his tone icy. “You don’t get to call me Dad ever again.”
His eyes turned red. “You aren’t part of the family. Isn’t that what you just said? Well then. We’ll make up for what we owe Grace, and you must do
the same.”
He was so agitated because he was in great heartache, right now, he couldn’t even think straight.
Evertime was stunned
Naam was the first to react. She closed her eyes, tears silently streaming
Then she looked at Kyla
“Kyin, you thref, you sinner. I’ll never forgive you till the day I die.”
With that, she turned and left this suffocating home without hesitation.
When she walked out the door, she stumbled and almost fell.
In fact anyone would find it hard to accept.
The person they had always defended was actually the worst of all.
That about the person who had been misunderstood all along? How desperate and devastated must she have been?
Naomi didn’t even dare to think.
Meanwhile, Kyla froze in situ, her expression changing constantly.
Compared to Samuel’s slap, Naomi calling her a thief stunned her event
more.
She now felt even more humiliated; she almost wanted to vanish into thin air right now.
“Antonio, I…”
Just as she spoke, she was frightened to silence by Antonio’s cold gaze.
Antonio’s expression and voice were both icy. “You don’t get to say my name again.”
“Why? Is there really no room for reconciliation between us just heme of this one thing?”
Kyla didn’t get it
She and Antonio grew up together
Their years of affection suddenly meant nothing to him just because of Grace, who showed up out of the blue, and the few mistakes she made?
“You love me the most, right? I admit I made some mistakes. But everyone makes mistakes. Why can’t you be more tolerant?”
She looked so sincere as if she was genuinely expecting an answer.
Antonio sneered, “It seems you still think your mistakes aren’t a big deal.”
“You’re right. Big whoop! Grace did seven years in jail. She didn’t die, did she?”
Kyla said righteously.
Antonio said sternly, “Do you have any idea how much she suffered in jail? Her body is covered in senrs!”
“So what? She deserved it. Blame her for coming back in the first place.” Kyla simply didn’t care anymore.
“I have been putting on an net. So what? I had someone torture her. So what? I want her to die.
“But I can’t be obvious, or the one you lonthe would have been me.”
As she said, she reached out, wanting to wrap her arms around Antonio’s
neck.
“Antonio…”
A cracking of bones breaking rang out
With a sullen face, Antonio grabbed Kyla’s wrist with such great force that he actually broke her bones.
Kyla clutched her hand and screamed.
Meanwhile. Grace was on a plane.
Having just woken up from a long dream, she opened the window shade.
In a daze, she looked at the dark sky.
She had dreamed of her parents, Naomi, and Antonio, the man she had loved for years.
“If only you hadn’t come back that year. Why did you do such a horrible thing?”
“Grace. I love you. My wedding with Kyla is in name only.”
His words echoed in her ears, but she knew very well–they didn’t love her, let alone trust her.
It was a cloudy day, as depressing as the tears she had held back.
Just then, the announcement of the plane’s arrival sounded, snapping her back to reality.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we will be landing in Clastein in five minutes. The ground temperature is 20 degrees Celsius. The plane is descending…”
She got rid of those depressing dreams.
As she looked out the window at the increasingly bright and clear city,
she smiled.
This was Clastein; time to start a new life.
