Chapter 11
A wave of anger crashed over him. Without thinking, Alan charged forward, delivering a brutal kick that sent the gang of thugs scattering.
“Get the hell out!”
He turned to Summer–her hair a mess, her clothes torn, her whole body trembling–and his chest tightened with pain. Regret threatened to choke him; just later and the consequences would’ve been unimaginable.
He quickly shrugged off his jacket and gently draped it over her shoulders, his hands shaking as he pulled her into his arms.
“Summer…” His voice cracked, thick with emotion and panic.
Summer forced her eyes open, her words heavy with bitterness. “Alan, is this what you wanted? Are you happy now?”
His whole body went rigid, agony written all over his face. “No, I just… I just wanted you to calm down. I had no idea any of this would happen-“}

“You didn’t know, but you never protected me! If you hadn’t let Lena get away with everything, she never would’ve dared to do this!”

She tried to push him away, weakly pounding her fists against his chest, desperate to escape his hold.
But Alan held her tight, voice raw as he tried to soothe her. “Summer, please, don’t move. You’ll make it worse. Just trust me, okay?“>
Then, with no care for appearances, he turned and barked at the bodyguards, “What are you waiting for? Get a doctor, now!“?
The guards stared at him, stunned, then glanced at the door–where Lena knelt on the floor, clutching her stomach and moaning.

Lena’s voice shook with disbelief. “Alan, what’s gotten into you? Are you seriously falling for her innocent act? She came here on purpose just to get close to you!”
“Shouldn’t you be throwing her out already?”
Her friends jumped in, eager to back her up. “Exactly, Mr. Clark. Nobody knows where she came from–she just showed up at the villa, clearly up to something. You should’ve kicked her out right away.”
“Having someone like her around is dangerous.”
“When Sophie tried to make her leave, she almost scratched her face!”
“Thank God Sophie reacted fast, or who knows what would’ve happened,”
The more they talked, the darker Alan’s expression grew. His grip on Summer only tightened.
He turned slowly toward Lena, his voice dangerously calm. “So you started it, right?”
Lena missed the warning in his tone, lighting up as if expecting praise. “Yeah, I did. But I don’t care if I get hurt, as long as I’m helping you, Alan.”
Her friends breathed a collective sigh of relief, tripping over themselves to take the credit.
“Yeah, that little bitch tried to hurt Sophie. Sophie was just teaching her a lesson by messing up her face.”
“And so she wouldn’t bug you again, Sophie even got some guys to scare her off!”
Lena’s grin widened, pride shining on her face. She was sure this was exactly what Alan wanted–he’d finally see her worth.
Alan gave a slow, cold smile, but his eyes were pitch black, a dangerous fire flickering inside.
“In that case, I really should thank you, shouldn’t I?”
Lena blushed, “Alan, 1-”
But before she could finish, Alan’s voice cut through the room like ice. “You. Go get a knife,”

Lena’s eyes lit up, thinking Alan wanted to punish Summer more, to cut her face again. She urged the bodyguards, “Didn’t you hear him? Hurry up! Alan wants a knife!”
Alan’s expression was unreadable, cold as stone.
A guard quickly returned, holding out a gleaming knife.
Lena pointed at Summer, shouting, “Go on! Give that bitch a few more scars!”
Her eyes blazed with madness, her face flushed with excitement–so focused on Summer that she never noticed the guard approaching behind her.
Alan’s smile twisted, turning cruel. “That knife’s for you.“?
Before Lena could react, the bodyguard slammed a kick into her knee, forcing her to the ground. He yanked her arms behind her back, pinning her in place.” Another guard grabbed her chin, the knife flashing cold and bright–its reflection burning in Lena’s terrified eyes.
