He had no shame!
I yanked my hand free and snapped, “Did you even think about us when you were in bed with Serena? Did you even think about how it made me feel when you said I was infertile?

“You forced me to divorce you and walk away empty–handed. You were afraid I’d cling to you, and now you’re talking about all we’ve been through? How pathetic can you get?”
With that, I turned and walked off without looking back. I must’ve been blind when we were dating. I never saw him for the person he really was.
A few days later, Rachel Hill reached out to me. She was back in the country.
Rachel had gone to the same college as me, and she was my best friend. After I got married, she went abroad. She saw my Instagram post just a few days ago and congratulated me on dumping the jerk and doing well on my own.
I drove over to pick her up. She was standing at the entrance, looking just like she did back in the day–young and carefree. It seemed like life was so much better without the chaos of marriage.
I honked, and she gave my car a quick look, muttering under her breath. I honked again. This time, Rachel knocked on the window. “Hey, genius! Are you blind? Can’t you see I’m standing here? And yet you keep honking and honking…”
After I rolled down the window, she froze. “Paige? Holy crap, when did you get this fancy?”
I urged her to get in the car. “My real parents found me. My dad’s the CEO of Cromwell Group!”
Her jaw nearly hit the floor.
On the drive, I filled Rachel in on everything that had happened. She spent the whole ride going off on Owen and his mistress, which had me laughing non–stop.
That night, she took me to a bar. I’d never been to one before, so I thought, why not?
The atmosphere was amazing. Rachel grabbed my hand and dragged me onto the dance floor, but I passed.
She went straight to the floor while I hung back, sipping my drink and soaking in the lively scene around me. Suddenly, I saw someone I knew.
No way, seriously?
It was a woman with a baby bump, dressed in a short, tight dress, grinding on some guy on the dance floor. A crowd gathered nearby, whooping, clapping, and going wild.

I quickly pulled out my phone and started recording. Too bad I’d already deleted Owen’s number. Otherwise, I would’ve sent it to him immediately!
