Just as the tension peaked, Joshua strolled over with his hands in his pockets, his tall frame exuding natural poise with every unhurried step.
Walking up close, he raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze falling on Samantha. A meaningful smile curled up at the corner of his mouth as he spoke, ‘Mrs. Pittman, you’re so beloved. Mr. Pittman spends fortunes just to make you happy. How enviable.”
His assistant immediately paled, stepping forward with a bow.“Mr. Anderson, my apologies,” the flustered man corrected. “This is Ms. Sutton, Mr. Pittman’s wife. The lady beside him is his secretary.”
Samantha, who had been pleased to be called “Mrs. Pittman“, felt her smile freeze on her face.
Her eyes widened in disbelief at the assistant, filled with anger and frustration. She secretly cursed at this assistant for being so blind and ruining her good mood.
Joshua nodded slowly, feigning sudden understanding.“My mistake, Mr. Pittman,” he said in an apologetic tone, turning to Justin. “Being new here, I assumed your secretary was your wife given how close you appeared.”
Justin’s already gloomy expression darkened further.
Joshua’s veiled insults intensified his fury, but constrained by the setting, he could only grit his teeth and mutter, “It’s fine.”
Emelia couldn’t suppress a chuckle at Justin’s humiliation.
Covering her mouth delicately, her eyes sparkled with satisfaction.
She marveled at how skillfully this stranger had exposed the ugly truth between Justin and Samantha clearly.
Justin’s face flushed with shame at Emelia’s laughter.
He shot Samantha a glare brimming with warning and reproach, clearly blaming her for this public disgrace.
With a meaningful look, he signaled her to hand the jewelry to Emelia.
