Chapter 20
Just then, the bathroom door creaked open, and Reynold stepped out.
Though visibly exhausted, he maintained his usual courtesy.“Ms. Sutton,” he said, “Mr. Sutton asked that you wait elsewhere. He’ll meet you composing himself.”

Emelia shook her head urgently, refusing to leave.
She stepped forward, standing at the bathroom doorway, her voice pleading. “Rhett, I won’t go. Are you still hurt? Let’s go to the hospital now.”
“I’m fine, Emmy. Leave.” Rhett’s weakened but firm voice carried through the door.“I shouldn’t have called you here while disoriented. If anything happened to you because of this, how could I face our parents?”
Regret flooded Rhett. He wanted to slap himself for summoning his sister into this chaos.
And where was Justin? Why hadn’t he come with her instead of letting her come alone and face the risk?
“Rhett…” Emelia trailed off, swallowing her words.
“Ms. Sutton,” Joshua interjected smoothly,“please wait in my suite. Mr. Sutton will join you shortly.”
He understood Rhett’s concern. Emelia’s youth made her vulnerable. This scandalous chaos could ruin her reputation if she stayed.
Thus, Rhett wanted his sister gone now, to stay away from this mess.
After a hesitant pause, Emelia nodded.
She cast one last lingering look at the bathroom door before trudging after Joshua toward the presidential suite.
Inside, Joshua gestured gracefully to the plush sofa.
Emelia shuffled over and collapsed into the cushions.
She sat with her head bowed low, fingers clutching tightly at her clothes, shoulders trembling slightly as quiet sobs escaped her. She had reached an emotional nadir.
Joshua stood nearby, silently observing her.
This version of Emelia was completely different from the radiant, confident woman he’d seen at the auction.
Back then, she had worn an exquisite gown, mingling effortlessly with the crowd, her eyes carrying that natural air of elegance and pride.
