Chapter 6
In my past life, I was insecure and weak. Sofia was beautiful and born. into a wealthy family. Her grandfather was even the renowned head of the Jenkins Group.
I knew I couldn’t compete with her, so I devoted myself entirely to Antonio and our child. But in the end, all it got me was a tragic death. Now that I was reborn, I finally understand–why would I even compare myself to her?
To Antonio, Sofia would always come first.
I finished packing my suitcase and glanced toward the bedroom. Antonio. was inside, making funny faces to cheer up Zoe. Without hesitation, I gently closed the door, the door that had trapped me in my past life.
When I was just reborn, I considered confronting the Jenkins family. But what would be the point?
Sofia may have been the other woman who ruined my relationship, but she was still the daughter of the Jenkins family. If I made a scene, they had a thousand ways to crush me.
After all, Antonio was the person who was really at fault. So, instead of wasting my youth on them, I might as well use this second chance to chase the dreams I never got to fulfill in my past life.
When I got to the motel, I collapsed onto the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Memories from my past life flooded my mind, pulling me deeper and deeper until a sudden, urgent knocking on the door snapped me out of it.

Thinking it was the hotel staff, I got up and opened the door, only to soc Antonio standing outside.
His clothes were soaked with sweat like he had been running around looking for me.
“Are you out of your mind?” The first thing out of his mouth was blame.
Before I could say a word, Antonio pushed past me and started packing. my suitcase. Suddenly, he paused and pulled out a broken jade bracelet from my bag.
“Why is this bracelet with you? And… how did it break?”
With a straight face, I took the bracelet from him and put it back in my bag. “You saw the mess Zoe made of my things today. When I found it, it was already broken. I was planning to see if it could be repaired.”
That bracelet originally belonged to my family. When we got engaged, my grandmother gave it away as a token of the betrothal. Now that the engagement was off, of course, I was taking it back.
But Antonio had always thought the bracelet belonged to his family. His expression turned strange as he said, “I mean, why is it with you? Shouldn’t it be at my house?”
I was about to explain when Antonio suddenly laughed. “I get it now. My mom gave it to you when you came back, right?”
As he said that, he reached to put the bracelet in his pocket. “I’ll get repaired and give it back to you once it’s fixed. It’ll be yours anyway.”
“No need, I can take care of it myself.” I grabbed the bracelet from hist
hand.
Antonio paused, then asked, “Are you still angry? Zoe made a mistake,
but she’s just a kid. Don’t hold it against her.
“Do you realize how worried everyone was when you ran off like that?
“I just don’t understand. Zoe used to really like you. What changed all of a sudden?”
“Like? You mean she and her mom thought I was an easy target?” I interrupted. “So now that I’m not taking it anymore, she doesn’t like me?”
Without giving him a chance to speak. I continued. “You said it was Ben’s request for you to look after his widowed granddaughter.
“But we all know what his real intentions were. Are you going to tell me you never had those thoughts?
“If her husband knew how you were taking care of Sofia like this, do you think he’d crawl out of his grave to beat you up?”
smirked at Antonio and exposed his true thoughts.
“You… you…” His face turned pale. He pointed at me, stumbling over his words, and finally said, “You can’t be reasoned with! If you don’t want to go back, then stay here and think it through yourself!” With that, he rushed out in a hurry.
As his footsteps faded away, I closed the door with a sigh of relief. breathing heavily.
Maybe I had spent too much energy during the day because I soon drifted off into a sound sleep.
The next morning, while he and Sofia were taking Zoe to kindergarten, I arranged for a courier to pack up all my old school books and materials from Antonio’s house and send them to the school I was about to teach. I also left him a note, explaining that the engagement was over, and now he
