The next day, Ethan’s assistant came to find me. He said Ethan had arranged for him to take my parents around for a tour. I didn’t refuse.
Ethan had planned everything for us carefully, and my parents were happy.
Since my mom knew I had broken up with Samuel, she insisted she wouldn’t stay at his place anymore.
So, the three of us stayed at a hotel for another two days. When my parents went back home, Ethan arranged for someone to escort them.

After my parents returned to their hometown, I focused all my energy on work.
There was an important design exhibition that week, and I was one of the lead designers, so I had a lot of work to do.
On the day of the exhibition, I went on stage as the designer’s representative to give a speech. But halfway through, out of nowhere, someone splashed coffee all over me.
The culprit was none other than Lily, someone I hadn’t seen in a while. And standing next to her was a girl who looked familiar.

‘Selina, I was so kind to you. How could you be so shameless?” Lily barked, pointing at me. “I’ve known Samuel for over 20 years. How dare you make him cut ties with me?”
I shot back. “I already broke up with Samuel. What does that have to do with you?”
Lily sneered, “Yeah, you broke up because you climbed the ladder, didn’t you?”
I panicked, sensing an unfavorable situation. There were so many reporters here. If she dragged Ethan into this, I wouldn’t be able to hide our marriage anymore.
Lily had a smug look on her face as she pulled the girl next to her. “Do you know who she is? She’s Ethan’s fiancée.”
Only then did I remember her. She was the one standing next to Ethan at the hotel that day.
Lily pointed at me and said to the girl, “Jessica, this is the one who ruined Samuel’s relationship with Ethan. She’s been flirting with Ethan while still clinging to Samuel. She’s playing both sides.”
Immediately, people started whispering around us.
“I was at Mr. North’s engagement party. If you look closely, this designer really was Mr. North’s fiancée. But at the party, Mr.

North ran off with another woman. At the time, I thought his fiancée was so pitiful.”
“To hook up with Mr. Clarke? She must be no easy target.”
“I’ve seen her design work. She’s a talented designer.”
“So what? If her private life’s a mess, her work is just tainted.”
“To make Mr. North and Mr. Clarke turn against each other, she has got some skills.”
I heard the gossip and clenched my fists.
Jessica Grey was better–mannered than Lily. She stayed calm and polite. “Miss, we’ve met before. I don’t know if you remember me, but I’m Jessica.”
I just looked at her without replying.
Jessica continued, “Last time, Ethan said he wasn’t familiar with you, but now, I’d like
to hear your side of the story.”
I closed my eyes for a moment. The camera flashes around me were blinding, making me dizzy.
“I have no relationship…” Before I could finish, I was pulled into a warm embrace.
The familiar scent of tobacco wrapped around me.
I looked up at Ethan, who looked determined.

He calmly faced the reporters and cameras. “She is

His embrace felt incredibly safe, warm, and comforting.
