Chapter 1
After I got pregnant, my husband Zachary Harrington became infatuated with his young, charming secretary, Lilian.
On New Year’s Eve, Zachary and Lilian, who was wearing a form–fitting red dress, were having a private celebration. I walked in on them. Lilian raised her neck, which was marked with bright red kiss marks.
“Oh, don’t misunderstand! With the new year coming, I’m just helping Zachary get rid of bad luck and usher in good fortune,” she said.
Zachary, clearly irritated by the interruption, complained, “You’re pregnant and can’t satisfy me. I’m a normal man. I need an outlet, and Lilian’s just kindly helping out.”
Seven months pregnant, I was so furious that my water broke. Lilian had the nerve to say I was just pretending to wet myself to embarrass my husband. Zachary, angry at the scene I caused, locked me in the bathroom. After spending three nights with Lilian, he finally decided to end my punishment. But when he saw my deflated belly later, he went mad.
On New Year’s Eve, Zachary and his buddies planned a night out to ring in the new year, while I stayed home due to my pregnancy. As night approached, I received a text from Zachary with an address attached: [Hey, love, I’ve got a surprise for you.]2
With my seven–month belly, I hurried to the club to meet him. My excitement was doused with cold water. The private room was filled with smoke and indulgence. Lilian, with dreamy eyes and flushed ears, was perched on Zachary’s lap, both innocent and seductive. Zachary’s right hand, veins bulging, gripped her waist tightly. Her dress was bunched up to her waist, revealing a bare shoulder.
That red dress was custom–made by a threadmaster exclusively for our wedding, one of a kind. Yet now, Zachary was secretly using it for a thrill. The sight of Lilian’s exposed, slender waist was a stab to my eyes.”
“Zachary, go easy on me~” she cooed.
“You little vixen, pretending to be innocent, asking for it five times a day,” he teased.}
They kissed passionately, oblivious to the world, surrounded by people who seemed used to the scene. I realized who must have sent that text. Zachary’s friends all had a girl on their arm, watching with amused interest.
Timothy teased, “Lilian, that outfit is hot! No wonder Zachary ditched his wife on New Year’s Eve.“}
Zachary pulled Lilian closer, exhaling with a smirk. “Rosalind Sterling’s too conservative for some fun. I know what’s important.”
“And since she got pregnant, she’s ballooned up like a pig, always a mess. She’s a turn–off, unlike Lilian with her flair.”
Lilian traced circles on Zachary’s chest, pouting in mock annoyance. “Zachary, don’t be mean. I’m a good girl, you know~”
“Yes, yes, my sweet girl, happy new year!” Zachary pulled out an expensive diamond necklace from his pocket and slipped it into Lilian’s disheveled dress, making her giggle.
Someone joked, “Zachary, aren’t you worried your wife will find out and divorce you?“>
Zachary was unfazed. “So what if she knows? She loves me too much, and she’s carrying our child. She won’t go anywhere.”
Their shameless flirting continued.”
My stomach churned with waves of nausea as I pushed the door open, my face pale. My entrance shattered the laughter in the room. Zachary quickly grabbed (a jacket from the sofa and draped it over Lilian. It was ridiculous, and I clenched my fists in anger.
“Oh, she can straddle you in front of everyone but can’t show a shoulder?” I asked, my voice shaking.
“Don’t make a scene, she’s just a young girl,” Zachary replied.
Lilian, under Zachary’s protection, gave me a taunting look. “We’re just celebrating the New Year! ‘Out with the old, in with the new You should understand.”
Everyone tried to smooth things over, signaling for me to give Zachary a break. “we were just playing truth or dare, got a bit carried away with the drinks. We’ll drink three shots as an apology to you, just forgive Zachary, okay?”
