Series 29
Unprepared, Alexander was sent tumbling off the bed by the impact of her kick. Marry Scarlet
Alexander was completely stunned.
To imagine he would be cast out of his own bed felt unimaginable!
From his position on the floor, he rose, turned to face Wren, and harshly spat out her name between gritted teeth, “Wren Clark!”
Sitting up with a slight tilt of her head, Wren locked eyes with him, her stare bold, her smile tinged with mischief. “Here I am! What’s wrong? You aren’t about to toss me from the bed too, are you, Mr. Clark?”
Looking at Wren, Alexander felt a mix of rage and resignation.
“Very well!” he said slowly, his voice thick with warning before he turned and marched toward the walk-in closet.
A thorough search of the closet revealed a lack of extra blankets, forcing him to return to the couch empty-handed, his face clouded with frustration.
Given that the couch was five feet long, Alexander, standing six feet two inches tall, was uncomfortably cramped.
Meanwhile, Wren sprawled luxuriously on the bed, flipping over without a care.
At that moment, her phone rang on the nightstand. Joshua was on the line.
With a puzzled tone, Wren answered, “Joshua?”
Joshua replied, “Wren, Mollie has been asking about you today again, wondering when you’re planning to visit and spend some time with her.”
