Series 30
“I’ll stop by tomorrow,” Wren responded. “And tell her not to worry about the divorce. I’ve got everything under control and will finalize it tomorrow.”
Alexander, now lying on the sofa, raised an eyebrow when he heard Wren’s answer.
Joshua’s laughter echoed from the other end of the line. “Fantastic! Once you’re divorced, let’s hit the club, and I’ll hire five gigolos to entertain you.”
“Two will suffice,” Wren replied with a serious expression.
After a brief pause, she added, “Remember the gigolo from last time? His physique and looks were quite alluring.”
Alexander’s forehead furrowed as Wren spoke, his face growing cold noticeably.
“Alright then!” Joshua exclaimed with a smile. “I’ll make sure the lineup is to your liking this time.”
Suddenly recalling something, Joshua added, “By the way, Theo from the Adams family has been asking about you. Seems like he might be interested in you.”
Wren’s eyebrows arched slightly.
Theo? Interesting…
Her gaze narrowed craftily, and after a short pause, she told Joshua, “If he asks about me again, give him my number. Just don’t mention my name.”
Her final words held a deeper, unspoken meaning.
“Why?” Joshua’s confusion was clear.
“Need to ask him something,” Wren explained.
“I see,” Joshua replied.
Their conversation continued for a while before they ended the call.
As Wren set her phone aside, she was about to turn off the light when Alexander’s voice, dripping with sarcasm, broke the silence. “Wren, it seems your life abroad has been quite colorful.”
Five gigolos? Could she really handle that many men?
Alexander’s comment made Wren reflect with a pitiful expression, saying, “Had you been punctual at the courthouse three years ago to finalize our divorce, Mr. Clark, my life abroad could have been far more thrilling.”
Alexander let out a derisive laugh. “Really? Well, make sure George is persuaded tomorrow then.” His gaze grew stern. “We need to wrap up this divorce quickly so I can marry Scarlet.”
Alexander was puzzled by his own urge to speak that last sentence.
At his words, a brief pang of sadness touched Wren’s heart, but her face remained calm.
She turned towards Alexander, her smile radiant. “Don’t worry, Mr. Clark. I’ll ensure you and your beloved Scarlet are united without delay.”
With a graceful flick of her wrist, she turned off the light, lay down, and closed her eyes.
Knowing for three years that Alexander wanted to divorce her for Scarlet, she had returned this time to finalize her divorce from Alexander once and for all.
So, what was there to be sad about?
Alexander spent a restless night on the sofa, comfort eluding him.
By morning, his eyes were shadowed with dark circles as he headed to work.
In contrast, Wren woke up refreshed from a good night’s sleep. After her morning meal, she made her way to George’s room.
Upon seeing Wren enter, George asked, “Do you need something, Wren?”
With a nod, Wren sat on the sofa.
