Series 35
“Wren, are you still blaming me for the matter?”
Wren shifted her gaze to Lily and affirmed with a nod. “Yes, I blamed you before. You even believed I took Freya’s necklace.”
A bitter chuckle escaped her as she continued, “It’s quite something, isn’t it? My own mother refused to trust me.”
Wren was deeply hurt by Lily’s lack of trust.
Lily’s face grew anxious when she heard this. “I’m sorry, Wren. I was misguided then, but I came to realize someone had set you up later.”
With a dismissive shrug, Wren responded, “Does it really matter now? You still thought I was guilty of pushing Freya intentionally. That’s why you were adamant about me apologizing to Freya.”
“No, Wren, that’s not the whole truth,” Lily said, shaking her head earnestly. She quickly attempted to clarify, “I was aware you didn’t shove Freya, but under those circumstances, an apology was necessary to pacify your father. Had you apologized, perhaps you wouldn’t have been beaten up like that. Do you think it didn’t break me to see you in so much pain?”
