The next day, I took the novel I had stayed up all night writing to a publishing house.
The publisher flipped through the novel several times, then looked at me suspiciously, “You want to sell this novel?”
I nodded, not expecting to be rejected.
My novels had gained some fame, not to mention this story was the fruit of my labor over the past few years.
Selling it would also give me peace of mind.

The publisher sneered, “Did you really write this?”
I felt something was odd, but still nodded.
To my surprise, the publisher’s face darkened, “These plot points were clearly shared by Miss Sanders at the literary event a few days ago. How dare you claim you wrote it.”
“Someone, throw her out. I despise plagiarists the most.”
As expected, I was turned away from several publishing houses.
They all said the same thing.
“Miss Sanders shared this story already.”
“You say she plagiarized your novel? That’s ridiculous.”
But I had never shared this novel with anyone.
I thought back to that day when my room was trashed, and I hadn’t had time to check on my manuscripts.
Could it be…
I prepared to return to the Foster house to demand an explanation.
When Peter found out, he insisted on coming with me.
“No matter what, I’m your husband in name. How could I let you face this alone?”
After some thought, not wanting to swallow this insult, I agreed to go with him back to the Foster house.
The Foster house was decorated with colorful ribbons for the upcoming wedding in three days.
Before I could enter, I was stopped. Soon, Grandma Foster hurriedly came out.
She took me to a side hall, her expression lacking the joy of an upcoming celebration.
“Why have you come?”
I bowed, “Grandma Foster, I’ve come to ask Mr. Foster about something.”
She looked at me coldly, “You know, I don’t want any complications.”
“Are you still not giving up?”
Peter held my hand and bowed slightly, “Grandma Foster, you’ve misunderstood. My wife has no such intentions.”
He briefly explained the situation.
Grandma Foster sighed in relief, “It’s just a few novels. I’ll have the housekeeper give you some money later. You won’t need to sell novels anymore.”
I remained unmoved, “Grandma Foster, for a writer, this is a matter of integrity.”
“I just want to find out the truth, who leaked my novel.”
I refused to back down.
Grandma Foster’s face darkened, “The Foster family raised you for over a decade. Is this how you repay us?”
Peter and I stood in the hall, intimidated by Grandma Foster’s aura.

A hoarse, deep voice came from behind, “I’m sorry. I took it upon myself to give your manuscript to Rachel.”
“I didn’t expect her to claim it as her own…”
Luke’s chest heaved, clearly having rushed over.
Seeing Luke arrive, Grandma Foster fell silent.
In just three days, Luke had lost some weight. He stared at me intently as he approached.
“Chloe, you really got married out of spite?”
“Where have you been these past few days? I couldn’t find you, and mother kept it from me.”
I instinctively took a step back, grasping Peter’s hand.
Luke’s sharp gaze lifted to Peter, his voice cold, “So you’re the one who tricked Chloe?”
