Chapter 25
LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
He won.
I knew that sex was just a distraction.

A mouth–watering distraction. Something to make me forget all about Gaia and his discussion with the Order. But instead, it made me more curious. I had woken up to an empty bed. Still feeling sore from last night’s activity. Juliet came in, smiling broadly at me as she greeted me. “Luna’s Aquamarine. I’m here to help with your bath.”
I nodded and let her do as she pleased with me while my mind went back to Alexander. He disappeared last night.
I was sure of it.
There was a time I wasn’t able to perceive his scent or even feel his hot body against mine. And it was for a long period of time, but when he came back, he felt… different.
He smelled like burnt grass and ashes. It was very subtle but I could pick it up anytime, any day.
“The Primus has called for you for breakfast,” Juliet said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Sure,” I answered, although I was more interested in something else. “Juliet, any news about the scroll?” I asked.
Hoping for the best. Time was one thing I didn’t have on my side and even though Alexander doesn’t mention it, I knew he didn’t forget.
He never does.
She looked around, like she was making sure nobody was listening to us. Then she brought out something from her pouch which was wrapped in grey clothes.
I’ve never been soo hopeful in my life till this day. My heart raced and a smile formed on my lips as she unwrapped it.
It was…. Not the same scroll.
My smile fell, followed by my heart.
It wasn’t even sealed.
“While clearing Katherine’s room, the maids saw this in her possessions,” she replied as she handed it to me.
Panic clawed at my chest.
They might have given Kath something to open and maybe threatened her. And she didn’t tell me?
“What about Levi? Anything from him?” I asked, but then I noticed the shift in Juliet’s mood.
She blinked, then shook her head, “I’ll make sure to check. But if I may ask, what’s the importance?”
“It’s a gift I can’t afford to lose,” I lied.
I wish I could tell her the truth. But knowing she’s a witch, Alexander might not spare her.
When we were done dressing up, we stepped out. Just to see Aaron waiting for us at the door.
But I noticed something odd or should I say different?
The guards had doubled.
Looking more alert than ever, as if they were ready to strike. Aaron walked in front of us, just like before, gaining attention from people we passed by.
As we walked through the corridors, I noticed someone walking directly towards us. Unfortunately, it was a face I would never miss
Esmeralda.

Chapter 25
Just looking at her made me remember the night I saw her with Alexander. But then, I remembered her scent. Like ashes,
Was Alexander with her last night?
No, the scent was similar but she didn’t have his on her. Not even the slightest. Not even bathing in milk and rose petals could erase
one’s scent.
Talkless of Alexander’s own.
Her eyes locked onto mine, and a sly smile spread across her face. “Luna Aquamarine,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “I see you’re doing well after yesterday’s commotion.”
“Yes, I’m doing fine,” I replied.
Esmeralda’s eyes flicked to Aaron and Juliet, and she nodded at them. “You’re certainly… well–guarded. I’m sure the Primus would want nothing but the best for his… new toy.”
I frowned at her words, but I kept my composure.
She’s an Elder and the last thing I would want to have with one is a petty fight. I needed to proceed with caution and thankfully, Katherine wasn’t here to do the opposite. Katherin
“I’m sure Alexander has his reasons for protecting his Luna,” I replied calmly.
I wondered what Esmeralda truly thought about Alexander’s claim on me.
I remember Juliet had told me that there was a time rumours spread about one of the female members of The Order lusting after Alexander.
Esmeralda’s eyes twitched as she glared at me. I felt like I struck a nerve. “Oh, I’m sure he does. After all, he has a collection of weak she
“Excuse us, Esmeralda. We’re heading to breakfast. We don’t want to keep Primus Alexander waiting.” I cut her off and walked past her, leaving her standing while feeling something bubbling in my chest.
Her words left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I didn’t like her.
I didn’t like her scent or her facial expressions which seemed like she was judging me.
Aaron walked up ahead, leading us once again to the dining room. But my mind was still on Esmeralda, wondering what she had planned for me.
As we approached the dining room, I could hear raised voices coming from inside And I could see food thrown out the door.
I fastened my footsteps, eager to see the source of the commotion, but deep down I had an unsettling feeling in my chest.
We entered inside, just to see the large dining table which I believed was filled with food, upside–down.
Everywhere was a mess. I found the source of the whole commotion standing at the edge of the table, with a golden goblet in hand, pouring its contents onto a maid’s head who was kneeling in front of her.
Sunkissed skin, long black hair and an earthy aura didn’t go unnoticed by me.
“Gaia?” I whispered.
What was she still doing here?
I stared in confusion My mind went back to the conversation I had with Alexander last night.
If she wasn’t important, why was she still here? I thought the Naturellians were banned from setting foot in this pack, so why is she still
here?
After what she did yesterday? Or was there much more than the simple excuse of pack business?
My hands clenched at my sides and I released a shaky breath.
