Betty was lying in the bed, looking thin and pale.
Patrick felt his heart twist with pain. He hurried to her side and hugged her. “Betty, how are you? Don’t worry, I’ll find Eliza soon, and she’ll donate her bone marrow to you!”
A flicker of a smile passed through Betty’s eyes, but guilt quickly spread across her face. “But Eliza is pregnant. How could I ask her to undergo surgery for me?”
Patrick’s face darkened with coldness. “She’s carrying another man’s child. She can just get rid of it.”
Betty hesitated, but in the end, she spoke softly, “When I get better, I’ll make sure to properly repay Eliza.”
“Repay that cruel, foolish woman? Why?” Patrick’s voice was full of venom as he gritted his teeth. “If it weren’t for her bullying me back then, I would’ve been with you already!
When I was at my lowest, it was you who gave me the money so I could continue my studies. I’ve always had feelings for you! As for Eliza, that spoiled woman who thinks her family background gives her the right to oppress others, she deserves to be put in her place!”
I couldn’t help but sneer.
Patrick claimed I used my family background to pressure him, but it was he who pursued me back then, confessing to me with sincerity, “Eliza, I really like you.”
He said it was Betty who helped him through the hardest time, but when his parents passed away, the anonymous donation he received had actually come from me!
Betty was nothing but an imposter, a lowly person who took advantage of a situation that wasn’t hers!
Betty looked down, trying to hide the guilt flickering in her eyes.
Just then, a doctor in a white coat burst into the room.
When he saw Betty and Patrick in each other’s arms, his face twisted with rage. “Patrick, you je*k!
Heather is dying, and you’re here fooling around with another woman!”
The doctor was Michael Gordon, my best friend.
On the day I married Patrick, he asked me with red eyes, “Are you sure you won’t regret this?”
When I nodded, he turned and left, going abroad for years of further study.
I never expected that after I died, he would return home and continue to take care of
Heather.
When Patrick finally saw his face clearly, he scoffed coldly, “I thought you were someone important, but it’s just Eliza’s lapdog.
The Walter family has fallen, so why are you still protecting that stupid, shallow waste of
space?
