hub. As long as the policy remains unchanged, acquining that land could be a highly lucrative investment.X
Chapter 50
There was more than just The Linwood Group eyeing the land, Cole Corporation was in the mix, and even some folks from Westbrook were showing interest.”
Vanessa and Brian were engaged, and their families collaborating on the Eastborough project promised a win–win situation.
What Ethan couldn’t quite figure out was Westbrook’s stance.
Westbrook, being the capital of Vesperia, had influential families whose power overshadowed The Linwood Group and Cole Corporation. If they decided to snatch Eastborough all for themselves, it would leave The Linwood Group and Cole Corporation without a chance X
With work and home both being a mess, Ethan felt overwhelmed.
He stayed at the office until late in the night before finally heading out.!!
But his mind was in turmoil, so instead of going home, he drove to The Grand Tavern.
The bar was dimly lit, the ambiguous light flickering across the dance floor casting hazy shadows of men and women moving to the beat.!
Ethan made his way to the bar, found an empty seat, and gestured to the bartender for a strong drink. The bartender, after giving him a quick glance, swiftly mixed a drink and placed it in front of him.
Ethan downed the drink in one go, the fiery liquid burning down his throat, making him wince slightly, yet oddly providing a release for his pent–up frustration.
Drink after drink, Ethan’s gaze became more vacant.
Damn Claire.
Her temper had become increasingly stubborn.
Five years ago, she wasn’t like this. So what if she served five years in prison? Was it necessary for her to act like she had a chip on her shoulder every day?!
She was the one who pushed Irene down the stairs, turning her into a vegetable. Jail was her own doing, and yet she acted as if he, her brother, had wronged her.k
If she wasn’t a Linwood, the Cole family’s power could have kept her locked up forever, not just five years.
Ungrateful, truly ungrateful
The more Ethan thought about it, the angrier he got. He took another swig of the potent drink, the smell of alcohol growing stronger on him.
The bartender placed another drink on the bar, and just as Ethan was about to grab it, a large, well–defined hand reached over and took it firsLX
Irritated, Ethan turned to see who it was, his eyes filled with anger and impatience, and shouted, “Who the hell are you?”
The man ignored him, tilting his head back to drink it all at once.
Ethan shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, and then realized it was Brian.
Seeing Brian only made Ethan’s anger surge. The strong scent of alcohol on his breath, he pointed a finger at Brian and shouted, “You beat my sister to a pulp, are you even a man?”
Despite his unsteady body, Ethan swung his fist towards Brian.
Brian frowned, not wanting to argue with a drunk. He sidestepped easily, avoiding Ethan’s wild swing.
Ethan, having missed, stumbled and crashed onto the bar, sending drinks spilling everywhere.
With reddened eyes, Ethan glared at Brian and tried to swing again
Brian grabbed his hand, pressing it firmly against the bar. “If you want to throw a tantrum, do it at home. Not in my place.”
“You bastard, you beat my sister like that, and now you think you’re in the right?“}
Brian’s expression turned cold. “Listen carefully, Ethan. First, I didn’t lay a hand on her. Second, even if I had, she would have deserved it.
That’s what she owes Irene.”
